I fucking hope it does long-term and irrevocable damage to "police reform work." That's the fucking point.
One reason shit popped off in Minneapolis:
All their trendy "reforms" were already in place *before* police murdered George Floyd. People had already seen bias training, chokehold bans, bodycameras, "warrior cop" training bans and even prosecutions of cops.
Nothing changed.
Derek Chauvin was a product of their most creative and progressive "police reform." That's kinda the point.
These blue checks are really still out here like, "people burned a police precinct to the ground because they want Democrats to give even more money to police and maybe institute more sensible bodycam policies."
manufacturing consent or whatever. what did Democrats actually do when they assumed power? Give more money to police. of course.
Both cities already had "duty to intervene" policies for their police, too, which are now being touted as some kind of new reform legislation that's really going to "reform" police. lol
