Don't get me wrong, I adore Gil Kane's art. But his covers? Meh. They all look the same!

I guess this is what Marvel bigshots wanted, but every cover is a crowded fight scene, usually with a superdude flopping over backwards with one of Kane's signature limp-wristed poses.

Kane drew like 75% of Marvels covers in 1972, 73, 74 and 75 and one is pretty much the same as the other. Sweet gig for Gil, but I would've MUCH rather had him drawing stories.

I think Kane trails only Ditko as Spidey artist. I like him better than Romita! Kane's rubbery poses were perfect for the Webslinger. And when Romita inked Kane pencils? That was fucking PERFECTION!

But then became the cover artist and we got 10 years of Ross Friggin' Andru.

This is my favorite Kane cover from the era. This one is a beaut. Absolutely a classic.
