Folks, my holiday cookie recipe is perfect for Christmas this year—but there probably won’t be enough left to leave out for Santa. I hope you all have fun making (and eating!) these cookies this holiday season. 🧵

For the cookies:
3/4 cup butter flavored shortening
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
3 1/2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup canned milk
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the frosting:
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 to 2 tablespoons milk

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a cookie sheet.
In a bowl, cream shortening, sugar, vanilla, and eggs - mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients. When combined, add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, and add the milk. Mix well.

Roll out your cookie dough to ½ inch thick and cut with your DNC holiday cookie cutter. Place cookies on the sheet, spreading out so they’re not too close. Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes at 350. Place on a cooling rack to cool, then frost with vanilla buttercream frosting.

To make the frosting, combine powdered sugar and butter in a medium bowl with an electric mixer on low speed, or with a spoon. Stir in the vanilla and 1 tablespoon of the milk.

Gradually beat in just enough remaining milk to make the frosting smooth and spreadable. If the frosting is too thick, beat in more milk, a few drops at a time. If the frosting becomes too thin, beat in a small amount of powdered sugar.

Enjoy!
