The uprising of the working classes of #Kazakhstan has given victories to other regional workers: Uzbekistan has just cancelled any fuel price rises and has ensured ALL gas produced is used within the country and ends all gas exports to China. Extraordinary stuff.
“Uzbekistan’s government has halted natural gas exports and appears to be quietly ignoring its recent pledge to increase fuel prices at the start of the year. The change comes after neighboring Kazakhstan saw violent unrest last week that began with protests..”
““The reason is clear. The authorities do not want a repetition of events in Kazakhstan and are taking action. Apparently, the price increases have been frozen so far. After all, one of the reasons for the unrest was the price of liquefied gas,” the pensioner told Eurasianet.”
““People are very unhappy with us because of electricity and especially gas,” he said … “For 30 years we have been selling gas abroad, but we have not received any profit,” he said.”
A year ago Uzbek oil workers were on strike and battling plans to sack 2,000 of them, this was at oil plants where money went to Russia not China. Part of the uprising in #Kazakhstan was the threat of 4,000 (!) oil workers being sacked.
