#onthisday in 1973, a city photographer walked down Charles Street snapping photos for a city survey of #BeaconHill architecture. Let's follow along! @BostonLandmarks @universalhub @HUBhistory

We start at 15 Charles St in front of the Beacon Hill Thrift Shop. The Thrift Shop advertised that proceeds went to nursing scholarships at the New England Baptist Hospital League

A few doors down, at Lewandos, we can pick up one of the newspapers stacked in front of the shop! cityofboston.access.preservica.com/uncategorized/…

Need some caffeine to keep going? Luckily, we pass the Cambridge Coffee, Tea, and Spice House at 42 Charles. cityofboston.access.preservica.com/uncategorized/…

Or maybe we could use a sweet treat? Good thing Baskin Robbins is at 60 Charles. cityofboston.access.preservica.com/uncategorized/…

But if you wanted a meal and not a snack, Kentucky Fried Chicken is right next door! cityofboston.access.preservica.com/uncategorized/…

As we continue down the street, we see that Mister Donut at 79 Charles is hiring! cityofboston.access.preservica.com/uncategorized/…

A little farther down the street, we come across a realty company and a clothing store. When we zoom in, we see a sale on "cheap pants!" cityofboston.access.preservica.com/uncategorized/…

At Charles Street Apparel, these folks (and their pup!) do some window shopping. cityofboston.access.preservica.com/uncategorized/…

If they're in the mood to shop for for books in addition to clothes, they can just stroll down to 97 Charles where Mod Books and the Wear House are side by side. cityofboston.access.preservica.com/uncategorized/…

We finish up our walk at the Frye Pen, a "shop for people who breathe in their own fashion." cityofboston.access.preservica.com/uncategorized/…
