(1) #MakingAMurderer: More on Scott Tadych
Inv. Wendy Baldwin's files

During the Teresa Halbach murder investigation, CASO Inv. Wendy Baldwin (Schmitz) found leads that suggested Scott Tadych had more involvement in the murder than it first seemed.

Let's review her reports.

(2) This saga began when Inv. Baldwin interviewed Lisa Novachek at THE WISCONSIN ALUMINUM FOUNDRY where Scott Tadych worked 2nd shift. Keith Schaefer, Scott's Shift Super, had asked Lisa to set up an interview.

Baldwin contacted Lisa on 3/2/2006.

stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/upl…

(3) Findings:

Lisa:
- Confirmed Scott didn't work 10/31.
- Heard he visited his mom at the hospital.

Chris Graff:
- Took a call from a hysterical teenage kid asking for Scott.
- Paged Scott, who took the phone call & left.

Keith:
- Said Scott was a nervous wreck when he left.

(4) Further:

Keith told Lisa:
- Scott found blood on one of Barb's boy's clothes.
- It had gotten mixed up with Scott's laundry.

(5) The timing of this interview was interesting, too. It occurred on 3/2/2006, the second day of the police search of Steven Avery's garage that yielded the magic bullet.

The interview was AFTER Wiegert and Fassbender obtained the false confession from Brendan.

(6) Inv. Baldwin was able to follow up this interview on March 30th, 2006, interviewing:

- Scott's Shift Super: Keith Schaefer
- Scott's Co-Worker: Leonard Brouchoud
- Scott's Co-Worker: Thomas Culp

stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/upl…

(7) Findings from Keith:

- Heard Scott missed work 10/31.
- Heard he went to see his mom at the hospital.
- Heard Scott saw the fire on Halloween.
- Heard Scott noticed stains on pants & shirt of one of Barb's kids.
- Heard Scott had told people Brendan knew something.

(8-1) Keith introduced Inv. Baldwin to another of Scott's co-workers, Thomas Culp.

Findings (1 of 2):
- Scott was at Steven's house the night of the fire.
- Scott said Steven always had fires.
- Early on Scott said he thought Steven was innocent.

(8-2) Findings (2 of 2):
- Scott told people he'd seen stains on Brendan's clothes & something was weird with him for the last 2mo.
- Scott thought Steven may have molested him.
- Scott now thought Steven used him to commit the murder.
- Tom confirmed Scott had calls at work.

(9-1) Finally, Inv. Baldwin interviewed another of Scott's coworkers, Leonard Brouchoud.

Findings (1 of 2):
- On 10/31, Scott had seen Steven, standing by the fire & had driven by.
- Scott had thought Steven was innocent at first,
however, now he thinks he is guilty.

(9-2) Findings (2 of 2)
- Scott said it could be possible for Steven to do that because of the underground room by the trailer.
- Scott told him there were pants that were washed & he had seen stains on.
- Scott thought Brendan had been forced to help Steven.

(10) So it appears that Scott was loose lipped at work, and was telling his coworkers that Steven was guilty and he forced Brendan to help him do it.

But there were some suspicious things:
- The call from hysterical teenager.
- Scott acting like a nervous wreck when he left.

(11) With what Inv. Baldwin had, it became time to question Scott again, and she accompanied Inv. John Dedering to question him at work that same day.

(12) Remember, Keith, who worked with Scott for 8y, described him as:
- very edgy lately.
- a short-tempered, angry person.
- a chronic liar.
- someone who does not get along with others.
- someone who had blow ups w/others.
- very capable of the murder or knowing more.

(13) Moreover, Keith said Scott also screams alot and is a quote PSYCHO unquote.

This was not the most glowing recommendation from a supervisor, in my experience.

Note: I had these tweets out of order & had to move them to correct the thread. Now back to Scott's interview.

(14) Even though CASO Inv. Baldwin developed the leads, Inv. Dedering wrote up the Scott Tadych interview.

Perhaps this was misogyny; perhaps rogue elements wanted to cut off Baldwin. It smells suspicious.

(15-1) Scott's Interview with Dedering & Baldwin

Findings (1 of 2):
- Confirmed stains on Brendan's blue jeans
- Said he only found white (chlorinated bleach) stains
- Said he did laundry at Barb's
- Restated his alibi: Hospital, Hunting, Bobby, "Prison Break"

(15-2) Findings (2 of 2):
- Now saw "a big fire" at "burn pit".
- Saw second person there, likely Brendan.
- Says Steven is bad to Barb's kids and might have sexual relationship with Brendan.
- DENIED reports of call(s) at work from hysterical teenager; said must've been Barb.

(16) Scott was not asked about one of the Dassey boy's 22 LR Rifle with a Scope that he allegedly tried to sell at work, because the police had not yet developed the lead, and Scott certainly didn't bring it up on his own.

(17) After Scott's interview, Scott's Shift Super, Keith Schaefer called the Calumet County Sheriff's Office & spoke to Inv. Baldwin again.

Keith said she should speak to "Jay Mathes, who was approached by SCOTT TADYCH to buy a .22 rifle belonging to one of BARBARA's kids".

(18) Interview of Jay D. Mathes regarding .22 LR Rifle:

The next day, Inv. Baldwin returned to the WISCONSIN ALUMINUM FOUNDRY to interview Jay D. Mathes, the coworker that Scott's Shift Super, Keith, had told her about. Mathes had known Scott for ~8y.

stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/upl…

(19-1 ) Jay D. Mathes Interview:

Findings (1 of 2):
- Jay was looking for a rifle for his kid.
- About a week ago (~3/24/06) Scott told him that he had a .22 Savage for sale that belonged to one of Barb's kids (Note: Bobby's Marlin had already seized as evidence).

(19-2) Findings (2 of 2):
- Agreed on a price of $100.
- Scott said it had a scope.
- On Monday, 3/27, Scott said he had it out in his truck and Jay could come look at it; he didn't.
- Today, Friday, 3/31, Scott denied ever having it and said the kid wanted to keep it.

(20) What had happened between Monday, 3/27/2006 and Friday, 3/31/2006?

I'll give you a hint. Scott had been interviewed by the police.

Red Flag: Doesn't this feel like an attempt to dispose of the murder weapon.

(21) There is no report of a follow-up interview by Inv. Wendy Baldwin (now Schmitz) and Scott Tadych.

- She caught him lying about the call from a hysterical teenager (Chris Graff).
- She caught him lying about trying to sell a .22 rifle for one of Barb's boys (Mathes).

(22) Inv. Baldwin (now Schmitz) eventually was demoted for posting posting a Facebook video of the CASO boys drinking, and she left police work.

I believe we have a police report showing that she was commanded to stand down on the Tadych thread. Can anyone help me find it.

(23) As I re-reviewed this information, the timeline made it obvious that the 22 LR Savage Rifle was not the one seized by police during the November 2005 search.

According to Mathes, Scott had the gun on Monday, March 27th, 2006.

(24) Ken Kratz and Tom Fassbender made a big deal out of the chlorinated bleach stains on Brendan's pants at trial, but that's another story well worth looking into.

Happy sleuthing,
- Magilla

(25) The Baldwin Files raise some critical red flags about Scott Tadych and one of Barb's boys, who is undoubtedly Bobby:

- Scott was emotionally involved with Bobby at the time of his hysterical call to Scott at work.

- Bobby had a .22 rifle not seized by police in Nov. 2005.

(26) If you believe the CASO report, Scott Tadych never faced police questioning about the Savage .22 LR rifle he said he was selling for one of Barb's boys.

In Jay Mathes, they had a reliable witness who knew Scott for "approximately eight years".

(27) Jay Mathes put that rifle in Scott Tadych's possession on March 27th, 2006, when Scott offered to show it to him if he came out to his truck:

"On Monday, Scott approached him and told him he could go out to his truck and look at it."

(28) Scott perjured himself about the gun at Steven's trial during his cross examination by Strang, or is he depending on the fact that Strang mispronounced the name of man, saying Mathison when the name was Mathes.
