Wondering about #Cincinnati because... @Bengals?
Some things to know. 🧵

Cincinnati was a boomtown in the 1800s—one of the 10 largest cities in USA for most of the 19th century. So..

Our #architecture is a stunner—it looks like lower Manhattan b/c it was built at the same time.

People liked to try things here because it was the first big, important city of the 'west'. Mr. Roebling built the suspension bridge here, before he built the Brooklyn Bridge. Here's ours.

Our art-deco beauty, the Netherland Hotel and Carew Tower, is credited as the early model for the Empire State Building.

Our Symphony (one of the best and earliest in the USA, and home to Musicians' Local #1), our Opera (2nd oldest in USA), and our Ballet perform in this gorgeous 19th century castle: @MusicHallCincy.

When you are one of the biggest cities in the nation, you support all the culture of the rest of the big cities: so we have the old arts like art museums and new stuff like neighborhood art centers and the national @SignMuseum!

Our other big museums include the Taft Museum (yes, in THAT Taft Family house), the @cincyartmuseum, the Contemporary Arts Center in a magnificent Zaha Hadid building, and...

...The Museum Center in our historic, classic art-deco, train station. (Also...the model for the Justice League HQ 😉).

And our jewel of a neighborhood, just north of the CBD, is Over-the-Rhine—one of the largest, most-intact urban historic districts in the nation. It feels like Greenwich Village or parts of Philadelphia, low-scale 19th century buildings on narrow streets and alleys.

Over-the-Rhine is special...it's not mall-ified and there are lots of independent small shops+eats. Just up the street is our @BrewDistrict and the public market @FindlayMarket which is beautiful, with all the foods, and fun. @Newsweek named it Top 10 in the WORLD.

Truly this 🧵doesn't even touch all my favorite architecture and the other things that make Cincinnati so unique, but just in case you were wondering—you should have a little taste. /END
