Evening 🧵. Let’s see what is on TikTok and Telegram from Ukraine. The first was made yesterday by NBC. Kharkiv was hit with war crimes weapons today, pummeled in broad daylight as people emerged to buy food and supplies. Dozens of civilians died. google.at/amp/s/www.bbc.…

Aunt Lyuba fiftysomething from Odessa. “Curfew, they are shooting a bit, people panic. There is a shelter but it’s full of dogs cats everything…we stay home, Lena too, it’s fine all ok no panic it’s in God’s hands. All good.”

Another Russian tank going backwards after local residents walked forwards in Ukraine. Amazing. And as the comments note — the Russian boys don’t want to be there.

This is more dark war humor. This woman in Kyiv says people asked if she bought food for the week. She says no, she stalked up on condoms (using a russian slang word for them) — “I will protect myself if they attack” she says with a giggle. vm.tiktok.com/ZMLSVgDbC/

The babushki! She writes: Kyiv is under curfew. You can hear active shooting. And these two Ukrainian grannies are just not having any of it.

This was filmed 3 days ago in Russia by a TikToker who does random street interviews. The woman says “there are no Russian troops in Ukraine, only NATO is there” so he asks how do you know that? “I listened to Putin” she says. “You have to listen carefully to Putin!”

Real talk from Kyiv. I don’t know if you all noticed yet but so many Ukrainians speak incredible English.

This woman has been waiting for two days already at the Polish border. She is hoping to find some real food that volunteers have brought — hard to feed her child with just the tea and snacks they sell at gas stations.

Made 5 days ago. 5 days of horrific war few could have ever imagined. A nightmare come to life thanks to the madman in Moscow. Try to watch this without tearing up. I’m going to end here for now.
