Only 1 government openly supported decolonization.
Nato's primary goal was to have colonizers band together, in case any of the colonized countries got any ideas.

What people inside the imperial core don't realize is how popular socialism is when you have no roads, no schools and you are a serf or a slave mining for cobalt.

It is there to protect the leaders from their own people.
