1] The Mwonzora circus has taken another twist

True to its identity of being a judicial reconstruct, @OurMDCT through Mwonzora's legendary tactic of using proxies (something he employed against Tsvangirai himself), is now attempting to stop the March 202 by-elections, he caused

2] Great political minds, such as Dr Magaisa, countless times, warned Mwonzora against overplaying the court card, as 'politics is about the voter'!

Whereas admittedly, this isn't rocket science, it would seem like everyone else except Mwonzora, understood this warning.

3] Before looking into the merits of what the DM proxy is asking from the courts...here's some context.

Mwonzora has been a useful ploy, in ED's desperation to destroy @nelsonchamisa

In 2020, the courts upheld a dubious judgement which deligitimised Nero's succession of MRT

4] By this time however, enough political developments had occurred, beyond MDC-T internal fights.

Chamisa was now leading a distinct political entity & dutifully ignored the judgment, rallying his troops under the MDC-A party name.

Mwonzora & team ran with their price, MDC-T.

5] Evidently unsatisfied, Mwonzora & group came after Chamisa once again, this time targeting his MDC-A party.

Fortunately for Mwonzora, the courts which had granted him & team political authority over MDC-T, did the unthinkable, & legitimized his claim over MDC-A ownership

6] The hindrance for Mwonzora was however that his legal authority had no political takers

Elected legislators & Councillors, including the likes of Mashakada, continued to rally behind Nero

Again, Mwonzora ran to the courts & began recalling all those resisting his authority

7] Here's how the cooky began to crumble...

Chamisa tacitly decided against a MDC-A Parly wholesome pull out, as it would have created a rift against his officials.

The plan was to expose Mwonzora, by letting him recall those against his takeover, thereby exposing himself.

8] The recalls had a clear yet self-exposing strategy.

The initial victims were PR MPs, Senators & strongest Chamisa allies

Those from the first two groups were easier to recall as they could simply be replaced without going for an election.

This scared some PR MPs & Senators

9] The plan to scare off legislators through recalls didn't yield enough political dividend

Consequently, DM, as an expression of anger, continued with his recalls, while being careful against over recalling MPs, as he needed to justify the MDC-A 2018 PPFA funds he receives.

10] Mwonzora began positioning himself as the main Opposition Leader, using a court judgment.

As many ridiculed this baseless claim, he realised he needed to somehow legitimise his MDC takeover

His attempt further exposed him, as their MDC-T EOC couldn't attract a quorum.

11] All of these developments left Mwonzora realising he had no legitimate electoral constituency to rely on.

The best Mwonzora could do, was to persist with his armchair politics of claiming political authority from HH.

He began desperately warming up to ED, for protection.

12] Warming up to Mnangagwa, was a desperate plan to shield himself by Mwonzora.

Sensing that elections would expose their outfit, the MDC-T has been desperately pushing for a dialogue & subsequently a GNU

The intention is to eventually do away with elections, even beyond 2023

13] Yet in the immediacy, after replacing PR MPs & Senators, there was a need to replace those elected directly.

Mwonzora once again began lobbying ED, for ammendments to our electoral law, to allow parties to replace their Councillors & MPs, without a need for by-elections.

14] For unclear reasons, Mnangagwa moved on to pronounce vacancies thus effectively calling to by-elections.

It's not far-fetched to think delaying by-elections is beneficial for both ZanuPF & MDC-T.

The key question is then:

Why did ED eventually call for these by-elections?

15] One theory could be that Mnangagwa was enjoying the Chamisa-Mwonzora fight, & couldn't resist creating an opportunity for another round of fights.

If this is true, then he isn't looking forward to his party win, by Opposition fights

However, this inevitably exposes Mwonzora

16] Another theory could be that Mnangagwa's hand was forced by the internal ZanuPF fights.

There may be a faction in ZanuPF sensing an opportunity to solidly its own political base, using the by-elections.

Recall ZanuPF has an elective Congress/conference this December.

17] The third theory could be that ZanuPF desperately needs to taste & fine tune its 2023 rigging plans

It has become abundantly clear, that Mnangagwa has failed to attract performance legitimacy.

Only way out is rigging & these by-elections are for ZEC, a dress rehearsal.

18] For the longest, Chamisa's silence was deafening.

ZanuPF wasn't buying their claim that he had "no plan". They needed to be sure.

Consequently, the other reason why ED inevitably called for the by-elections, was to deliberately spring @nelsonchamisa into action

19] It was nolonger safe for Mnangagwa to be constantly guessing Chamisa's next move.

Those who pay attention, acknowledge that Chamisa introduced CCC less than 24 hours before nomination.

He was deliberately keeping his cards close to his chest.

A nervous ED had to be sure.

20] If the plan was to force @nelsonchamisa into action...here's where it gets exciting.

Chamisa's response to the by-elections proclamation has been emphatic.
Nero showed that he just can't be wished away.

If Mnangagwa was looking for clues, he now has headaches instead.

21] We have seen enough, to know ZanuPF has captured the judiciary.

To this regard, will they allow this court application to succeed?

Do they acknowledge a desperate need to protect Mwonzora & push for their GNU?

Might ZanuPF be fully involved in this application?

22] Back to the court application itself...

It raises laughable & desperate claims.

The applicant admits to seeing 'vacancies occur' & the constitutional provision for their 'legal proclamation' lapse.

If his motivation is genuine, why didn't he challenge Mnangagwa then?

23] One will question the motivation of all this, on the basis of the timing.

Would have been a different conversation, had the applicant challenged ED to make the proclamation earlier

Attempting to 'cure' the illegality this way, this late post proclamation, is self-exposing.

24] Another concern is that by-elections are 'expensive', & 'resources should be channeled elsewhere'

In a constitutional democracy, protecting civil rights is a priority like any other

Last thing you need is telling politicians they can shelve the law & prioritize other things

25] The last issue is that 'these few seats don't matter'

The argument is that parliament hasn't been deligitimised nor less effective by being 28 legislators less

It's preposterous!

We are a representative democracy & all of us,at all material time, should have an elected rep

26] Will let lawyers fully focus on the legal merits of the issues raised by the applicant.

It however doesn't escape anyone's attention, that these are dangerous & laughable political fears, misrepresented as genuine constitutional concerns, by Douglas Mwonzora himself.

27] One wonders how DM's brain operates.

He threatened to host a star rally, which wasn't even a candle rally, in the end Now he's planning a part 2

In 2019, he claimed he could have attracted 3 million votes, & +60% votes in 2023, yet he fears mere by-elections!

maimbotembei?

28] In all this madness, it shouldn't be lost to us, that defecating on our constitution, is a win-win 4 ZanuPF & MDC-T

Recent political developments, especially CCC formation, was a signal for them to speed up anything that might clip NC's wings, incl their GNU

Expect anything

29] In reverse, these acts of desperation should fortify our resolve

ZanuPF is concerned by the rise of @nelsonchamisa led citizens' resistance; the pilling of pressure on ZEC; voter registration; & the uselessness of Mwonzora

Chamisa akapotsera chikwambo bute mumhino

enkosi!
