#Kharkiv #Art museum. Founded in 1920. It houses 25.000+ of paintings & sculptures (including Repin, Semigradsky & Dürer). The museum lost entire collections in #WW2. It was struck by a rocket strike on 8-3-2022. No damage to its collection registered, but its future looks grim.

Ivankiv Historical and Local History Museum burned down on February 28th, 2022. It housed:
- 25 paintings of #Ukraine renowned artist Maria Prymachenko (1909-1997)
- Cossack weapons

The works are to perceived as lost.

The second museum in #Ukraine confirmed destroyed. Museum of Antiquities V.V. Tarnovsky in Chernihiv (1902). It survived the Bolshevik attacks in 1918-1919 and #WW2.

On March 4th, 2022, #Poland technicians removed the XV century statue of Christ from the Armenian Cathedral in #Lviv, #Ukraine. The last time this happened was during #WW2. Father Jakub: "Christ is in a safe place ”. #History

Sviatohirsk Lavra (XVI century), a major Orthodox Christian monastery in #Ukraine, was damaged in an aerial bombing today. It housed 800 refugees in 2015.

Okhtyrka Muncipal Local History #Museum destroyed on 8 March 2022. It housed almost 10.000 artefacts, including personal items of #Ukraine poet Ivan Bagryany.

The employees and volunteers of the National #Museum of the #History of #Ukraine are working day and night to ensure the safety of Ukraine's most precious cultural objects. On 9 March 2022, a bullet flew through a window. No damage to the collection was reported.

Lviv National Art Gallery is the largest #art museum in #Ukraine, with over 62,000 artworks in its collection. The museum stashed away its masterpieces in the Potocki Palace or behind sandbags. It subsequently transformed into a volunteer hub, operating 24 hours a day.

Slovo House in #Kharkiv was damaged on 7 March 2022. Built in the late 1920's, its residents were primarily Ukrainian writers and poets of the #Ukraine cultural renaissance. Many were prosecuted by #Stalin: 33 executed, 1 suicide, 1 killed under unclear circumstances. 5 jailed.

One of the destroyed buildings is the manor of L.E. Koenig (1821-1903). The estate was built in 1762 in neoclassical style with baroque elements. #Ukraine

Back in early March, 2022, #Russia took control of Melitopol, #Ukraine. The city museum contained Scythian gold (excavated in 1954) dating back to 400 BC. The treasury, which was hidden by museum staff, was later found and moved to occupied Crimea.

#Bucha: The archive of Vyacheslav Chornovol, Hero of #Ukraine, was partially destroyed: All the books of the Chornovol Foundation & 60+ complete sets of the ten-volume Chornovol book.

The archive of Soviet political prisoner Mykola Plahotniuk was completely destroyed.
