Fewer patients treated with CPAP had a lower odds of intubation and death. No significance difference was seen in HFNC (but underpowered). More adverse effects with CPAP. #ATS2022

This trial looked at PaO2 targets of 60 vs 90. They found no difference in mortality of adverse effects or vent free days. HOWEVER, they used SpO2 for titration and they did not consider race or skin tone. #ARDS2022

This study analyzed discrepancies between SpO2 and PaO2 in patients with darker skin tones. Hidden hypoxia was associated with increased mortality and organ dysfunction! #ATS2022

This study looked at shape-sensing robotic-assisted bronchoscopy in the diagnosis of pulmonary parenchymal lesions. #ATS2022

When you put these studies together you see that localization doesn’t always equal yield. #ATS2022

This RCT evaluated HFNC vs NC during pediatric bronchoscopy. HFNC had less hypoxia but no change in clinical outcomes.

This study looked at the value of dyspnea and spirometry in detecting relapse of benign tracheal stenosis. The peak flow was highly correlated with the degree of stenosis in patients with relapse.
