Another Durham 'ambush'!
NYT's reporter Lichtbau agreed to testify for Sussmann & Joffe for their defense. But demands the court event Durham's team from cross examining him about Fusion GPS & the researchers.
Because he agreed, he likely can't back out!

So Sussmann's defense talked him into helping but thought they could prevent Durham from doing a real cross examination.
Nope!

Can't wait to see Lichtblau be forced to identify his confidential sources as they are most certainly other members of the conspiracy!

Lichtblau's testimony will show if Sussmann was part of the joint venture to generate fake news about the FBI investigating Trump (spoiler alert: they didn't).
So the testimony will show why Sussmann was motivated to lie to the FBI in an effort to provide them false information.

That any privilege a journalist may have (it is far more limited & mostly applies to civil cases) was waived when Lichtblau agreed to testify for the defense.
Now that he waived it, he can't take it back because SCO prosecutors want to ask him about the rest of the conspiracy!

Because Lichtblau agreed to selectively testify for the purpose of helping Sussmann escape criminal conviction, Durham's team has the authority to question him for other relevant information that shows that he is guilty!

Wonder what they will do...

And why is Lichtblau's testimony about other sources so important?

Because someone leaked classified information to Lichtblau & then someone blamed it on James Baker.

Baker was referred for prosecution to Durham, who found it was Sussmann & his co-conspirators who leaked it!

As I wrote in Oct. 2021, the Sussmann indictment is designed to show that it was not Baker that leaked the classified information.
That it was one of Sussmann's co-conspirators who leaked it to reporters, then Sussmann got Baker to call the reporters!

In their effort to create reasonable doubt, the defense is focused on an instant message where someone typoed "DNS Report" as "DNC Report"
