(this is the end,
yuuji’s fingertips run along his mother’s wounds, they’re carved by quite a familiar technique.
(hold your breath and count to ten,
yuuji sinks.
he sinks to the ground before his mother’s sliced body, the scent of familiarity clings to her. this scent is one yuuji knows like the back of his hand. this scent is one yuuji had always associated with safety, with love.
(hear the earth move and then,
his father’s.
(hear my heart burst again,
“ryoumen sukuna has sunk himself in depravity, he’s no longer human. your orders are to execute him at all cost. may he never enter the circle of reincarnation again! let him pay for what he’s done! let us take our vengeance!”
(for this is the end,
‘what vengeance… what sins? was this not what you wanted?’
yuuji learns throughout every reincarnation that human life is trifle, that the legacy left by his father is one he cannot rid himself of, and then he meets him.
this is the beginning.
the beginning of the end. as it always has, at it always was.
(i’ve drowned and dreamt this moment,
zen’in megumi is everything yuuji could ask for and more, someone who could see past the treachery of his father’s reign, past the darkness of ryoumen sukuna’s legacy.
someone who saw past ryoumen yuuji’s blood.
(so overdue, i owe them,
but this is not their story. for theirs is not one worth mentioning.
(swept away, i’m stolen,
ryoumen yuuji becomes itadori yuuji and that’s when it all begins.
(let the sky fall,
but, the true beginning is the moment yuuji swallows ryoumen sukuna’s finger.
‘hello father,’
as expected, ryoumen sukuna cannot recognize his son, a child he left behind many millennia ago, but how could he? when it had been yuuji who’d sealed him.
‘who are you.’
‘you needn’t know. only that i will do what i could not back then.’
(when it crumbles,
and then itadori yuuji is swept to tokyo tech, he does not fight it. what need there be?
he’s offered a choice, die now or collect all of sukuna’s 20 fingers.
then die and take him with you.
the answer is obvious for yuuji, “i will take ryoumen sukuna to the depths of hell as i should have years ago.” yuuji says, mournfully.
“i will make him answer to mother’s soul and free his from the shackles of wicked sorcery.”
yuuji promises.
yuuji and satoru stare eye to eye, and for the first time in centuries yuuji feels seen.
“you’re not an ordinary person, are you?” satoru states. yuuji stares back at the prodigy of the gojo clan and smiles, yuuji had met the six-eyes’ ancestor.
sugawara michizane had been an annoyance to say the least and yet, yuuji had become fond of him. they’d both formed a brotherhood. and when corruption had overtaken michizane, it had been yuuji to seal him. his brother in all but blood. yuuji swore never again.
never again would he open his heart in that manner.
ryoumen yuuji does, in the form of zen’in megumi. that too ends in shambles.
(we will stand tall,
“when are sorcerers ever ordinary?” yuuji smiles back.
(face it all together,
gojo satoru smiles.
(let the sky fall,
ryoumen yuuji abandoned his name in this new life, in respect for the man who’d raised him. itadori wasuke, and so ryoumen yuuji is itadori yuuji. that last strings that tethered him to his father’s legacy thinning, not yet snapping.
because no matter how many incarnation, how many life’s yuuji’s lived. he could never truly run away from his past. his legacy. the one his father has burdened him with.
“you’ve made your choice. you’ll have no chance to regret the consequences that may follow.”
(when it crumbles,
(we will stand tall,
(face it all together,
(at skyfall,
(at skyfall,
“i have no place to regret anything six-eyes, not i. i’ve no rights to such a thing.” yuuji mutters softly. he leans his back and stares at the countless talismans that are all plastered over every inch of this cell.
yuuji smiles and leans forward again.
his eyes take on a red sheen that has satoru’s hackles rising. the air between them crackling with animosity. satoru doesn’t trust yuuji, that’s ok. yuuji expected nothing less of michizane’s descendant.
there was no need really, though. yuuji would never harm him.
he had promised to look after his beloved brother’s descendants after all.
but he respects his caution.
“gojo-san, have you ever heard of the ryoumen clans origins?”
and so this is where it begins.
(skyfall is where we start,
itadori yuuji is an enigma, megumi surmises. he’s everything you’d expect, and yet not at the same time. he’s infuriating, annoying… lovely. itadori yuuji is lovely.
megumi hates the way he makes him feel. he’s a selfish sorcerer.
(a thousand miles and poles apart,
he’s selfish, greedy, angry. he’s his father’s son and his mother’s wit. he’s his father’s legacy and his mother’s undoing.
he’s a zen’in and a fushiguro all in one. he cannot be one without being the other. his identities in tandem.
(where worlds collide and days are dark,
he’s also the child raised by gojo satoru and tsumiki’s younger brother.
and now? he’s the boy who asked to spare sukuna’s vessel.
he’s yuuji’s savior and executioner. because in saving yuuji, he’d condemned him to this life.
(you may have my number,
because in saving yuuji, he’d burdened him with his heart.
megumi is a selfish man. one that aches and wants and needs. he did not save yuuji for some grander reason, merely because he’d felt guilty.
indebted really.
(you can take my name,
yuuji’s life is in megumi’s. cradled in between warm palms, a heart beating, pulsating.
and yet, yuuji is not at all what he’d imagined. no, that’s not it. yuuji is everything he’s imagined. itadori yuuji is, that is.
(but you’ll never have my heart,
but megumi can’t help but think that there’s more to him than meets the eye. yuuji is an enigma. he’ll smile and laugh with him and nobara, and then later will stare solemnly elsewhere.
megumi hates it.
‘look at me!’ he wants to say.
(let the sky fall,
‘pay attention to me! you’re eyes should only be on me!’ he aches to shout. and isn’t that terrifying? wanting to posses the attention of someone you’ve just met?
megumi truly is his father’s son.
this isn’t done, i’ll come finish it later!
