Ofc, HC immediately recognizes him but XL flails a bit and introduces himself as Hua Xie, a very normal farmer very earnestly so HC plays along, of course.
XL is searching for work, so HC tells him that he's a ghost and is currently building a city for ghosts to live in. If XL needs money and doesn't have anything against ghosts, he could help him?
XL enthusiastically agrees.
So, HC takes XL to Ghost City, or, the beginnings of it at least, where he immediately heaps food on him.
XL is regarded with mistrust by the ghosts at first, but he's so genuine that the ghosts finally just leave him be (HC's glares help too).
But, ofc, XL is still haunted by his horrible bad luck. So, while he's actually not bad at construction and certainly strong enough to lift and carry all kinds of heavy stuff, he's also always leaving a series of mishaps and destructions behind
He knocks down things, breaks important parts, somehow manages to burn down an entire house after its finished and one time, he falls off the roof of a high building (only to be catched by HC who coincidentally stood beneath him)
This goes so far that even XL has to admit he's doing more harm than good at this point and goes to apologize to HC and tell him that he'll leave.
HC will hear none of it.

Well, it obviously wasn't sturdy enough if it just burnt down like that. We'll just build it better next time.
Ghost city's residents soon realize whats going on, so they decide they really need to get the two together before XL burns down the rest of the city too.
Actually, I don't have more than that. I was just thinking about XL cheerfully helping build Ghost City and wrecking everything in the process. And HC equally cheerfully cleaning up after him.
