Amber Heard could set her money on fire for all I care. It’s irrelevant to the fact she was abused.

But here is a 🧵of examples of media/donors using pledge/donation interchangeably: because people do this all the time. #IStandwithAmberHeard #ISupportAmberHeard

People use donate/pledged (etc) interchangeably all the time & I’m still tired of people pretending they don’t.

Honestly most charities prefer smaller donations distributed consistently over long periods over large lump sums due to taxation, regulations etc.

Celebrities are always always clickbait— and they are also always PR-focused. Publications will go with whatever sounds better and so will PR reps.

No one has ever complained about pledge vs donate being misleading & they shouldn’t considering it’s pretty standard to use them interchangeably in PR/media.

No one says “well actually your BANK bought your house — you’re a liar” if you say you just bought a house.

I will reiterate again that I don’t care what Amber Heard did with her money — I’m just tired of people pretending that donate/pledge aren’t swapped around constantly — And no once cares

Depp “donated a pledge”

These aren’t even hard to find.

How many of these examples of pledge/donate being used interchangeably will it take for Depp stans to admit they’re being disingenuous, do you think?

Did he close the show with a donation or did he close the show with a pledge?

I’m sure Depp stans complain about how misleading this COMMON PRACTICE is all the time 🙄

#TaylorSwift “has donated” / “has pledged” — two articles. Same day.

Seriously, everyone needs to stop pretending using these terms interchangeably isn’t a common practice.

Colin Kaepernick claimed he was donating the first million dollars he made in 2016 to charity — he completed and exceeded his donation in 2018.

I’m not complaining about Colin, I love him. I’m just illustrating that donation/pledges are often announced and then made over time
