#Thread Update on Jawiil community hospital- finally I connected with Dr Ibrahim who manages the hospital, he told me that;
1- the hospital has no running water
2- and due to high fuel cost the entire town utility reduced electricity services from 10hrs to 3hr per day
3- forcing the hospital only operate during day with minimum services sending back majority of patients.
4- Dr Ibrahim some nights use torch for emergency cars at night since their is no light.
Based on our assessment we agreed to provide him a deisel generator to continue..
the operation while @PowerOffGrid will install 3kw to 6kw solar system and 2kw solar pump after a well is constructed. This will take 3-4wks, in mean time, we will provide free deisel generator & fuel to save lives before we fully convert the hospital to renewable energy.
Once we complete powering the hospital with solar and constructing well using solar pump; my goal is to set up holistic sustainable solution to generate revenue to become self maintained hospital even if the community have to sell their goats or camels #Goat4kWh
Last mile #PoweringHealthcare biggest challenge is incentivizing the doctors to stay in small town. Aid is not the solution,but incorporating productive biz revenue generation with multi use energy program for the hospital is the way to go.
The solution is there, but the Gov must have will to invest public healthcare last mile via public private partnership instead of depending on aid 24/7. 1000s of women during birthing in #Hirshabelle region due lack of access to energy and healthcare. It's doable.
Thanks @MoDugoow for providing me the doctor contact and folks who have shown their suppprt. Stay tuned.
