I’m sick soooo #bokutsukki sick fic thoughts.
—————————
Bokuto’s neighbor was sick. Their bedrooms shared a wall and this was the third night that he’s heard the blonde coughing himself awake. Normally he’d be annoyed at his sleep constantly being interrupted, but he was
Starting to get concerned. Him and his neighbor weren’t exactly close, bokuto’s pretty sure he’s never even talked to him. But! He does know his neighbor has friends. The walls are thin enough he’s heard people over there before. The last three days though have been pretty
Silent. Just the nonstop coughing moving from room to room. So he doesn’t know much about his neighbor but he does know that no one deserves to be alone when they’re sick. Bokuto is the baby of his family so he’s always had someone to take care of him. Mom, sisters, grandma, the
List goes on and on. Akaashi is always telling him that his experiences are not everyone’s, but still, the thought of his neighbor being all alone is keeping him up more than the coughs. He decides to take action, rolling out of bed and grabbing his pants off the floor.
One 24/7 konbini trip later, he’s back in his kitchen with a bag of cough medicine in the fridge and a pot of homemade soup boiling on the stove. Once the soup is done, he double checks the clock and grabs his ‘get better neighbor dude’ basket and heads next door. He knocks on
Door a couple of times, ear pressed against it to listen for any movement before he hears a quiet ‘coming’ and some shuffling. The door is opened and bokuto is momentarily stunned. This is the closest he’s ever been to the blonde, and even huddled in blankets and bags under his
Eyes from the restless nights, his neighbor is the prettiest dude he’s ever met(akaashi doesn’t count, he made sure bokuto only made the mistake of calling him pretty once). The blonde slowly glances down at bokutos arms, eyebrows raising.
‘Can I help you?’ The hoarseness of his
Voice jolts bokuto back into action.
‘Yeah hi! I don’t know if you know me but I’m your neighbor and you see our walls connect and I’ve been hearing you cough and oh no it’s fine not your fault at all dude but I can tell you’re sick and my mom always made sure we had the basics
When we were sick as kids so I just got you a couple of things like meds and soup and tea and I figured I’d bring them over and I’m really rambling here aren’t I?’ Bokuto saw how his neighbors eyes were slowly widening as he kept talking and cut himself off. He gestured to the
Bags on his arms. ‘Here! I can bring them in and the soup should still be warm but I can put on some tea or I could leave them here cause I’m just realizing you do not know me and might think I poisoned them which I didn’t I swear.’
The blonde winces as another round of coughs
Shakes his body.
‘Oh dude I swear I’m not a murderer please let me make you tea.’
‘Maybe don’t lead with poison and murder if you’re trying to get me to trust you.’ The neighbor replies, shuffling back inside despite his words. ‘Besides, I know who you are. Bokuto koutarou,
Black jackals. If I die, my friends will tell the media you killed me.’
He flops onto his couch, leaving a once again stunned bokuto in the doorway.
‘Woah dude are you a volleyball fan!’ He says, heading to the kitchen to set up. He hears his neighbor start to reply before
A painful sounding cough interrupts him. ‘Oh no shh don’t answer, rest your voice.’ He busies himself grabbing a cup of tea, a bowl of soup, and some of the meds. After coaxing the blonde into taking some of the meds, he leaves him to sip the tea and eat some of the food as he
Tidies his mess. He checks back into the living room to find his neighbor asleep, curled onto the couch. He writes a short note with instructions for him to take another dose of meds when he wakes up, and takes his leave. It’s not until later that day, in the middle of practice
That bokuto realizes he still doesn’t know his neighbors name.

It’s been about two weeks since the Incident as bokuto refers to it in his head, and he’s officially moping. He can’t think of another reason to go over and talk to his neighbor but he really wants to. He’s
Sitting on hinata’s sofa, whining for the nth time about his own personal missed connection when hinatas doorbell rings.
‘Ooh that should be the rest of karasuno!’ Hinata shouted, darting off to the door. Hinata had thrown a ‘welcome summer’ party and invited a bunch of his
Fellow classmates along with his current teammates. Bokuto pouts, he wasn’t done talking about how cute his neighbor was cuddled in his blankets. He turns to the commotion laughing as he sees hinata jumping up and down in front of a group of- wait a minute!! He slams his drink
Down, standing up to make his way over to the newcomers.
‘It’s you!’ He shouts pointing at his blonde neighbor who is frozen with one hand on hinatas head holding back and the other holding a bottle of wine. ‘Oh maaan I’ve been looking for you all over.’ The entire group has
Paused, looking at bokuto like he’s grown another head.
‘Clearly not very hard, I live next door to you.’
Hinata shrieks at this before doubling over in laughter. ‘Oh my god bokuto, the dude you’ve been pining over this whole time is jerkishima!’ He’s slapping his hands on
His knees, which leaves the neighbors hand free to adjust his glasses and cover the blush creeping across his face.
‘Jerkishima? Is that your name? I forgot to ask the other day! You know hinata! Is that how you knew me? Wait does that mean you played volleyball?’ The group of
Karasuno players are all slowly devolving into laughter and tears, except scary looking kageyama.
‘That’s not my name and you guys suck,’ the blonde says pushing his green haired friend off of him and starts to head for the kitchen.
‘It’s tsukishima,’ the green man replies
Between gasps of laughter. ‘And he didn’t use to play volleyball, he still does. He plays for the frogs.’
‘Oh shoot! Why didn’t you tell me that!’ Bokuto ignores the rest of the group to follow tsukishima. ‘The frogs are doing good this year, they have a chance to move up don’t
They? Wait what position are you? You’re so tall you’re definitely a middle blocker right?’
‘I couldn’t exactly give a speech the last time I saw you, we’re doing our best to make that happen, and yes I’m a middle blocker.’ He replies, grabbing a couple glasses and opening the
Wine. ‘You left before I could say thank you by the way. I had accepted my fate of succumbing to the cough.’ He passes bokuto a glass.
