So yesterday I went to my alma mater (alu mater) Jadavpur University. Some of it has remained exactly the same, even after 23 years and some…well… thread follows.
First there are the funnies. No one other than Elon Musk can enter. And “torn off” might refer to the power supply or the paper itself.
The cybersecurity protocols are “interesting” and an empty classroom has the proper HTML code.
Massive hammocks collecting dirt represent the filtering out of bad ideas in the pursuit of education.
The Marxist rhetoric has become much more pronounced. Though I am not sure what the relationship between “smash patriarchy” and “free Kurds” has.
Aggressive rhetoric against “Brahminism” and ABVP.
The best graffiti by far, providing the counterpoint.
Translation: “fucked up life and too many intellectuals”
The JU I know.
Then that which I didn’t expect. A full Trinamool office in JU.
And then the shocker. Right outside the Computer science building, blatantly religious posters from Islamic Youth Federation.
Cannot imagine this in JU when I was there, religion was absolutely out of bounds.
