From now until Aug. 1, Embry-Riddle Athletics will highlight a few milestones and accomplishments in 27 years of women's athletics at ERAU in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the enactment of #TitleIX in the United States.

Danielle Kennedy was the 1️⃣st.

Kennedy was a volleyball standout at nearby New Smyrna Beach HS and became the first female student-athlete in @ERAUAthletics history when she signed on May 25, 1995.

Kennedy played four years for @ERAUVolleyball and was a part of two 30-win campaigns, helping the Eagles to their first-ever conference championship in 1998.

Kennedy still ranks in @ERAUVolleyball's career top-10 with 268 total blocks. She racked up 740 kills, 335 and digs in her four seasons.
Kennedy graduated from Embry-Riddle in 1999 with her degree in Aviation Business Administration.

Ellen Bible was chosen to build @ERAUAthletics’ first women’s program (@ERAUVolleyball) when she became the first female head coach in ERAU history in 1995.

Bible led @ERAUVolleyball for two seasons. She concluded her stint at the helm with a 25-8 record and 10-6 mark in conference play in 1996. Additionally, she coached her squad to the program’s first postseason win – a 3-0 win over Florida Memorial in the FSC Tournament.

Bible was the first of 14 female head coaches in @ERAUAthletics history, helping pave the way for other women who have the desire to lead a program.

Embry-Riddle female student-athletes are leaders on and off campus. Women’s soccer alum Fanny Kristiansson was selected to represent Sweden at the 2017-18 Telenor Youth Forum.
