The day starts with a 39-km bike leg between Kleve & Xanten, mostly along the Rhine via @ECFEuroVelo #Eurovelo15.

👍👏Sofar the most relaxing and secure route of this European trip @Kreis_Kleve @ADFCNRW @VerkehrNRW !

This is due to several factors:
⤵️

1) bikes lanes separated from the motorized traffic, often with a grass/plants/trees strip on each side: feeling of safety (& often shadow as well)

2) a dense and well mapped regional bike lane system ⤴️, w/ ref. points & direction signs every 2-3km: no risk to get lost!

In terms of train travel afterwards :
- unfortunaltely there is no simple cross-border train connection between Nijmegen 🇳🇱 and Xanten 🇩🇪, although the tracks do exist @jonworth .

So, Xanten is the first train station in Germany that enables to reach Duisburg from Nijmegen.

Bike travel between both cities is nice, but what about people who can't bike @NS_online @Regio_NRW ?

In @stadtxanten, the train station offers a lot of covered bike racks that fit several bike sizes.
The @Regio_NRW RB and RE trains all accommodate bikes along folding seats, without reservation.
However, a NRW bike ticket must be purchased for the day at the vending machines.

Arriving in @muenster_de , the city proves to be cyclists' heaven 🤩
- clear signs and bike lanes
- free outdoor bike parking slots
- a gigantic #Radstation that provides short & long-term secured bike parking, bike rental, repair & even wash 👏👍

Impressive to end the day!
