The journey of Ram Mandir (A Struggle of 493 years and a legal battle of 134 yrs)
- It all started when mughals invaded India in 15-16th century.
- Till 11-12th, under Gahadavalas Dynasty, Ayodhya was believed to be an important pilgrimage site.

- In 1526-1528, Babur the first mughal emperor ordered Mir baqi to construct Babri Masjid at the birth spot of Shri Ram.
- However, in the babur's mughal documents there were no mention of babri masjid.
- It was claimed that in 1528, Mir Baqi on the orders of Babur constructed
BM on the site.
- However, there was no such evidences which established that BM was built in 1528.
- Infact, many people who visited India after 1528 never mentioned the existence of BM.
- In 1602, Abul Fazi who wrote Akbarnama described birthday festival in Ayodha and
there was no mention of mosque.
- In 1611, William Finch an english traveller visited Ayodha and wrote about the ruins of Ram castle and all about Ayodha but there was no mention of mosque.
- Atleast till 1717 there exist no mosque, as there is a map in jaipur museum which
clearly depicts the temple structure and janamsthan inscribed on it.
- Thus, the claim that mosque was built in 1528 was false as there exist no evidences to it.
- However, in 1717 the site was under Islamic control, as Hindus were not allowed to enter the occupied temple.
- So they built a square platform in the frontyard of the site and called it Ram Chabutra and installed murtis of Shri Ram.
- In 1766-1771, Jesuit priest Joseph Tieffenthaler visited Ayodha and wrote emperor Aurangzeb demolished and built mosque their.
The hindus continued to
offer prayers at a outer platform.
- It was in 1858 under the british rule, the claims were made that the mosque was built in 1528 by Mir Baqi.
- However, there was no evidences before that. Infact, there were also claims which stated that there exist no such person named
Mir baqi in history.
- It was believed that the fake Mir baqi inscriptions were placed on the mosque wall in 1812-1813.

- Thus, few key points can be drawn:
• The masjid was not constructed by Babur.
• Babur occupied & demolished the temple & hindus were not allowed to enter.
• But hindus still continued to worship around the mandir.
• Aurangzeb demolished temple & built mosque on the ruins.
A political turn:
- In 1850s beginning of disputes started.
- Until 1946, the name of babri masjid was masjid-i-janamsthan in official govt records. It was officially changed to BM by British govt.
- In 1949, Mahant Digvijaynath played a key role in Ram Janambhoomi movement.
- Many mahants and people in order to protect and worship Shri Ram were lathicharged and gave their whole life.
- In 1980s, a movement began by Vishawa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to reclaim the site to hindus.
- In Sept 1990, LK Advani began Rath Yatra to Ayodha in order to generate
support for the movement.
- where once he said:
"If Muslims are entitled to an Islamic atmosphere in Mecca, Christians a christian atmosphere in Vatican, Why is it wrong for the Hindus to expect a Hindu atmosphere in Ayodha.
- In October 1990, LK Advani was arrested by
Bihar's Lalu Prasad Yadav's govt to prevent him from proceeding to Ayodha.
- 30 Oct-2 Nov1990, many sadhus & karsevaks marched to Ayodha.
Mulayam Singh Yadav ordered police to fire on them. The official records show that 17 people were killed, however actual no. was quite higher.
- On 6th December 1992, Babri Masjid was demolished by Karsevaks. At that time UP CM Kalyan Singh denied to fire bullets on them.
- And taking as his ethical responsibility he resigned from the post. He said:
"Ram Mandir ke lie सैकड़ों सत्ता ko thokar maar sakta hu."
- A case was filed against him in SC by Mohd. Aslam for contempt.
- And court held him guilty of contempt and for hurting country's secularism & sentenced him 1day jail and fined him Rs.20000.
- He was sent to Tihar Jail for 1day.
- Many riots broke out in various cities.
- On 16 December 1992, Liberhan Committee was set up by the Congress govt which found many people culpable including Atal Bihari Vajpayee, LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti.
- The report was given after 17years of delay i.e. on 30.06.2009.
- The committee said:
"The preparation was accomplished with the phenomenal secrecy, was technically flawless with consistency and assured results."
- To the commission's observation that the demolition was planned, Ch-1 Page no. 15, para 7.4 of the report admits - No evidence
lead or information was provided to the commission w.r.t. the conspiracy or pre-planning or the joint common enterprise by any of these councils (Muslim Organisations).
- After Babri Masjid Demolition:
• 2002 Godhra incident happened
59 hindu pilgrims & karsevaks were burnt alive in S-6 coach of Sabarmati express.
• On July 2005, 5 terrorists attack the makeshift Ram Temple. They were from Lashkar-e-Taiba.
• Many terrorists attacks took
place citing the demolition of babri masjid as an excuse.
- On 9 November 2019, SC gave it's vedict on long pending Ayodha dispute and held
The Archaeological evidences shows that the masjid was constructed on a structure whose architecture was indigenous and non Islamic.
And a long pending struggle came to an end with the SC's verdict.
India's lost self respect, lost identity has been reclaimed.
Many fought for this.
A 92 year old lawyer Shri. K Parasan fought for Ram Mandir representing Ram Lalla.
