@TropicalVertic1 @fitterhappierAJ Wrt your question in yesterday's discusion. Long answer

- IMO, anti-viral nasal spray & mouthwash/gargle are the most significant underused personal tools for minimizing risk of airborne transmission – next to an effective face mask (high filtration, good seal, properly worn)...

@TropicalVertic1 @fitterhappierAJ - We control what we put on/in our body (eg, face mask, nasal spray, mouthwash, sealed eyewear, handsanitizer/gloves, supplements) while we are inside indoor spaces even with poor air quality we do not control (e.g., CO2 monitor, ventilation, air purification, air disinfection).

@TropicalVertic1 @fitterhappierAJ - Nasal spray & mouth wash may help prevent transmission of the SARS2 virus (even more when they backup an effective mask) & eliminate the virus (particularly in early treatment) in the nasal cavity, throat & mouth. Virus uses these ACE2-rich areas of the upper respiratory tract

@TropicalVertic1 @fitterhappierAJ as incubators (factories) & entry channels into body. Thus our ACE-2 rich nose, throat & mouth must be effectively protected from infection. Even an N99 mask may occasionally fail & there are situations when a person removes the mask (eg, eating, presenting)

@TropicalVertic1 @fitterhappierAJ Studies have been done or are ongoing on various nasal spray & mouthwash products. Many studies are impacted by lack of resources (funding, efficiency, time to complete) & regulatory redtape. They are less sexy & profitable products (e.g., vs vaccines) – despite their benefits.

- A nasal spray is only as good as how well it is applied into the nose (to properly cover the nasal cavity). Trajectory & head/bottle positions in these videos:
