The MAGA voting system breach in Georgia didn’t just come to light on its own. @MarilynRMarks1 & her @CoalitionGoodGv (+ lawyers) had to drag it into view bc @GaSecofState wanted it buried. It was only bc of her prior suit that GA dumped its old old paperless system. #gapol 1/

7/ Unfortunately, GA Sec of State ignored expert advice when it bought its new in-person voting system. Although it uses paper, the paper is marked not by hand, but rather by a touchscreen system. These machines are big & bulky & hackable & prone to breakdowns & long lines.
8/ The Big Lie derailed efforts to move GA to #HabdMarkedPaperBallots bc Trump falsely equates any discussion of vulnerabilities w/ proof that he “won” & then his MAGA army sends death threats to election officials - no one with an ounce of decency wants that. So it’s been hard.
9/ Trump, btw, won in-person voting in Georgia. He lost bc of votes cast by mail. There may be multiple reasons for that. Whereas Ds encouraged VBM due to the pandemic, Trump encouraged in person voting only in GA.
BTW, if vulnerabilities equaled proof of fraud, almost every US election wld be deemed fraudulent, including & especially Trump’s win in 2016. All voting systems have vulnerabilities. The goal is to mitigate them, but Rs under Trump blocked key election security legislation. 10/
