#UPDATE: A Thread On Darya Dugina's Murder And The Natalia Vivk Puzzle

#NewsRoundup

On 20th October 2022, Darya Dugina (a 29-year-old Russian journalist and political activist) died on the spot after 'an explosive device went off in a Toyota Land Cruiser she was driving near the village of Bolshiye Vyazemy in the Moscow region'

Darya was the daughter of influential Russian 'philosopher' and social activist (often referred to as "Putin's brain") Alexander Dugin

At the time of her death, Darya was driving a car belonging to her father as confirmed by a close associate who stated that "Darya was driving another car but she took his car today... As far as I understand, Alexander or probably they together were the target,"

After the death, Russia was 'very quick' to establish an investigative committee to conduct preliminary investigations into the death of the young journalist, and it did not take long for the panel to issue its first report

Russia’s federal security service (FSB) claimed the strike had been devised by the Ukrainian secret services, and that the main culprit was a Ukrainian citizen Natalia Vovk - who after committing the murder escaped to Estonia

According to state reports, Natalia arrived in Russia on July 23, 2022, with her daughter Sofya Shaban (born in 2010).

"On the day of the murder, Vovk and Shaban attended the literary and music festival Tradition, where Dugina was present as an honorary guest."

FSB Report - 'To plot the murder and gather intel on Dugina, Vovk and her daughter rented an apartment in Moscow in the same building as Dugina and spied on the journalist using a Mini Cooper car.

The Cooper bore a license plate of the Donetsk People's Republic - E982XH DPR,

In Moscow, it had a license plate of Kazakhstan 172AJD02, and when leaving - a Ukrainian license plate AH7771IP'

The FSB also released a video purporting to show her in Moscow.

Pro-Kremlin sites alleged that Natalya was part of the nationalist Azov regiment, which Russia accuses of “Nazism”.

The Azov regiment has denied having any link to Vovk adding that the Kremlin is seeking an excuse to carry out gruesome show trials of its fighters on Independence Day - Statement released on Telegram

Margarita Simonyan (head of RT media holdings) threatened to poison Vovk, tweeting that Russia might send a team to “admire the spires” of Tallin - referencing the Salisbury Novichok attack

However, analysts continue to doubt the FSB’s theory of the case with some noting that the ease with which Vovk got in and out of Russia was “a pretty major failure” on the state's end

Ilya Ponomaryov (Ukraine-based Kremlin critic) said on Sunday evening that a group of Russian extremists called the National Republican Army was responsible for the killing.

No evidence is available for the existence of the group
