How to MOVE your Mendeley library to Zotero:

A step-by-step guide with visuals 🧵

Why move, you ask?

Elsevier is SHUTTING DOWN Mendeley Desktop app on Sept. 1, 2022 😱

This is my Mendeley library that I will be moving to Zotero.

Once you've installed Zotero, go to File and click Import.

Zotero will give you two options to import from. Select "Mendeley Reference Manager."

Click Next

Zotero will take you to your Mendeley account and ask you to sign in.

Once you're signed in, Zotero will ask you if you'd like to place imported items into a new collection.

I'd suggest you choose this option so you can easily see if all your files have transferred successfully or not.

Zotero will then starting importing your collection.

After it's done, Zotero will tell you how many items it imported.

After you click "Finish," Zotero will show you the contents of the collection it just imported.

And that's pretty much it.

If you've new to Zotero, here's a step-by-step guide to get you started👇
