Its been about 5 days now reporting on #PakistanFloods for @SBSNews

A thread on what we've seen and heard, from getting here to visiting some of the hardest hit communities ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡ 1/15

We set off from Karachi early Wednesday, planning to reach the worst affected areas of Sindh province.

Not far out of the city, the #PakistanFloods appeared on both sides of the road, and we lost reception 2/15

We had been driving for a few hours when the main road we were on ended abruptly, completely cut off by water.

So we turned back, and continued along a long series of back roads through villages 3/15

We somewhat unknowingly drove into one of the worst affected areas in Sindh.

Both sides of the road passing through this village in Dadu district used to be rice fields. Its now completely flooded, forcing people up onto the road until the water recedes 4/15

From the side of the road, @SBSNews cameraman Edo Falcione managed to find a signal for a live chat w/ @JaniceKPetersen 5/15

Which from my point of view, looked like this... 6/15

We headed on through Sindh province. For every 5 roads we went down, we had to turn around and go back on at least one of them 7/15

Just before sunset, we had arrived at Ratodero and decided to pull over and speak to people there.

It hasnโ€™t rained in Ratodero for a week, but parts of the town are still flooded with increasingly unsanitary water 8/15

Dozens of shanty towns have appeared on the outskirts of town, rural people escaping the floods. We visited around 125 people taking shelter in a school classroom, after their village near Jacobabad was destroyed 9/15

Munir Ahmed Jalbani is a councillor in the local government. He says they're doing what they can to pump out the water and provide supplies but they're overwhelmed - like every other flood effected community, they need tents, medicines, food and water 10/15

There was no shortage of people wanting to speak to international media about how desperate the situation is @zulfiqarkunbhar 11/15

Rusted on viewers of SBS World News would have seen our story from Ratodero in our Thursday night bulletin.

Those that are still rusting can see some of it below, and watch the rest on our homepage ๐Ÿ‘‰ bit.ly/3AOXnIU 12/15

By Thursday, we had reached our destination - Shikarpur District, one of the worst affected areas in Sindh province.

While Pakistan's cities are seeing an influx of displaced people, ground zero of this disaster is rural, agricultural communities 13/15

We visited one village to look at the impacts of #climate change on food security. Short clip below, and the rest ๐Ÿ‘‰ bit.ly/3wUbyeD 14/15

For a list of ways to help people in Pakistan, @SBSNews has published this story by @rayane_tamer ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ 15/15 ๐Ÿงต
