Pathogenesis:
⏩Feto maternal transmission occurs hematogenously after maternal viremia
⏩After infecting the placenta, the virus spreads in fetus’ vascular system
⏩Causes cytopathic damage to blood vessels and ischemia in affected organs
⏩Highest risk of transmission in first 10 weeks of gestation
⏩Cardiac and eye defects before 8 weeks
⏩Hearing loss uptil 18 weeks

⏩Blueberry muffin lesions
⏩Celery stalk metaphysis
