Many people have been asking ... what is up with the sexy paintings or tapestries in the Red Keep? Do they show Targaryens FUCKING DRAGONS? How many of them are there?

Yup. And they're ALL OVER Targ private rooms and unofficial common areas.

A BREAKDOWN. #HotD

The earliest, clearest depiction of sexy dragon time come in the first episode, in the tapestry above Aemma's bed during her death scene (yuck). Her room has at least three separate pieces of orgy art. The one with the most clear dragon-sex is above her bed.

Viserys' primary chambers are also full of sex tapestries, which we see in all three episodes and on essentially, every available wall of his room. Here, the dragon/wyvern/sex toy looks to be striped.

We also see similar artwork in the courtyard of the Red Keep, including when Rhaenyra and Rhaenys discuss women's rights and the "order of things."

They're also likely in the stairways in the Red Keep. I haven't seen any of the Targ Sutra (h/t to @maddiekayplays for the term) in official spaces like the throne or council rooms, or in the rooms of non-Yarg characters like Otto (who lamely has a 7 pointed star instead).

Definitely worth noting that the orgy art 1) does not appear to always involve literal dragons or wyrms and 2) some of the sex depicted appears to be queer! I'm also curious if that's a baby dragon on the back of one of the participants here.

Cheers!

Here are a few of the clearest caps I took with the brightness and exposure adjusted. It appears to me that many of the larger serpentine figures match depictions of dragons/wyrms (as the painting behind Rhaenys). Some of others may include both dragons and snakes.

Also, want to boost this actual art expert opinion! They’re more than likely all paintings. Before I noticed them outside, I’d given to calling them tapestries.
