1. AEPAC has polled the diaspora on their opinions about the renewed fighting in #Ethiopia.
Over 1000 respondents took part & the survey was open, meaning that anyone could respond to it.
Read on for the results:
2. Over 68% of respondents said they had friends or family directly impacted by the fighting.
This shows how pervasive the violence has become & why people are so worried that the TPLF will harm their loved ones.
3. In addition to the above, over 94% of respondents blame the TPLF for restarting the hostilities.
This reveals that the TPLF's disinformation campaign is seeing diminishing returns. It is vital now for US leaders to fact-check info before acting on it.
4. The @StateDept policy approach towards #Ethiopa has significantly disappointed the community, with a majority of respondents wanting them to condemn the TPLF.
The US gov must realign its approach to be more constructive towards the peace effort & away from pro-TPLF policies.
5. Only through peace will the Horn of Africa be able to resist terrorist orgs & US regional adversaries.
The @_AfricanUnion peace effort in #Ethiopia is key to this & is well supported by the diaspora. We urge the int'l community to support the AU effort before it's too late.
