Ever since they were three, Katsuki had always called Izuku "my sunflower". It was innocent and sweet, plus it /perfectly/ matched Izuku and his personality. He was vibrant and someone everyone turned to when there was no sun. He was beautiful and charming, perfect always.
Then news spread that Izuku was quirkless. The shift in attitudes towards the greenette was strange and off-putting to say the least. One day, he was everyone's friend. He was the brightest sunflower of the patch, standing tall in all its glory.
But the next day? He was nothing. He was the wilted sunflower that was blocked from the sunlight and that everyone around him ignored him. He was forgotten and destroyed, cut from his stem.
But Katsuki stayed. He always did. Because when no one wanted to be Izuku's sunflower that lifted him back up, Katsuki took all of their places. He put Izuku back on his stem and helped him reach the sunlight he yearned and begged for.
When Izuku and Katsuki were eight, Izuku had to break the unfortunate news that the Midoriyas would be moving to Tokyo. Although in the same country, Tokyo was much farther from Musutafu than anyone would have liked. This all meant separation.
The goodbyes from both sides was the most painful thing the parents had to witness. Many tears were shed along with yelling, squealing, and begging. Seriously, Mitsuki had never been so close to actually breaking down in tears for the two sweethearts.
Finally, when the two boys calmed down and caught their breaths, Katsuki looked Izuku in his eyes and cupped his cheek. He started rubbing the tears away while he shed his own. Izuku leaned into the warmth and clasped his hand over Katsuki's.
Katsuki sighed and sniffled, "I love you and I'll miss you, my sunflower." That was the moment Inko had burst into tears, Izuku too. Izuku hugged Katsuki quickly, accidentally making them both tumble to the ground.
Through intense sobs, Izuku yelled, "I'll miss you too, Kacchan!"
It wasn't long after that when the Midoriya family duo pulled out of the Bakugous driveway, driving off for the last time.

Now at Yuuei, Katsuki was top of the 1-A course. He was focused and diligent, not to mention, one of the hardest workers in the entire grade. Which is exactly what brought him to tutoring these imbeciles in front of him.
"Man, I still don't get it. How, in the name of All Might, did you get 'x = 6' when it /clearly/ should equal 17?!" Eijirou's hands were shoved in his brilliant red hair, grabbing at the tufts in his hold. Katsuki groaned and wiped a hand across his own face.
"Because, dumbass", he began, leaning forward and picking up his pencil, "you have to fucking add -24 to 180, then divide 204 by 34 to isolate 'x', then you get 6, dimwit!" A few beats of silence passed before Eijirou asked another question.
"Then how the fuck did I get 17?" Katsuki leaned back again and set his pencil down on the table.
"I don't fucking know, you were probably thinking of 17 times 2 or some shit. I don't know what goes on in that weird ass brain of yours."
"Hey!" Katsuki smirked at the latter.
The common room door opened, and in stepped their teacher, Aizawa, with a small smile on his face. The students couldn't tell if it was a positive smile or a smile they should be frightened of, but they were frightened of it either way.
"Bakugou, I need you to come meet the new student and show him around. He's joining the support course, so if you could show him the lab first, that would be best." Katsuki rolled his eyes and groaned as he shoved himself off the middle of the couch, trying not to step on toes.
"Why the fuck do /I/ have to show him around? Why can't fucking, I don't know, the crazy chick in there show him?" He stopped in his tracks as his eyes landed on the 'new kid'.
The boy giggled and stepped more into the fluorescent lights, "I assumed Kacchan would want to show his sunflower around. Did I assume wrong?" Tears had sprung into both sets of eyes, and Katsuki kept switching his view from Aizawa to Izuku then back to Aizawa.
Although they weren't that far apart, Katsuki still ran and hugged Izuku. He picked the latter up and felt the boy's legs wrap around his waist. He ignored the coos coming from behind him and focused only Izuku in his arms.
He sank to the floor and melted into Izuku as the other started combing his fingers through spikes of blonde hair. Katsuki squeezed Izuku as he sobbed into his shoulder, and listened to the small chuckle from his childhood friend, his sunflower.
"I'm happy to see you too, Kacchan. I really am," his voice was soft as he let Katsuki continue to cry from relief. The blonde pulled his head away from Izuku's shoulder and looked into those mesmerizing viridian eyes of his.
Completely unplanned, but Katsuki kissed Izuku. He was scared, obviously, that Izuku wouldn't kiss him back or it would feel awkward or his lips were too dry, but actually? The kiss was soft and sweet and Izuku had no hesitation in kissing back. It felt /so/ fucking good.

"Inko, you owe me 14500Β₯ now," At the voice of his mother, Katsuki pulled away from Izuku and shot upwards.
"Hag?! What the fuck are you doing here? Why are /any/ of you here?" He huffed as his own parents and Inko walked into the room as well.
"Stop calling me hag, would you?! Also, I needed to get this sweet reunion on video, which I did, so be prepared to see this," she shook her phone, "at your wedding." Izuku's face instantly turned red and he buried it in Katsuki's shoulder.
"Bakubro, don't kill me, but your mom is kinda ho-"
"You continue that sentence and I kill you, Dunce Face." His tone was very threatening, so Denki quickly shut his mouth. Izuku giggled as he wrapped his arms around Katsuki's torso and shifted to a more comfortable position.
He pushed up and kisses Katsuki's cheek, smiling against the lightly freckled skin, "Your sunflower's back."
Katsuki only smiled and chuffed, and kissed the tip of Izuku's nose. He buried his face in Izuku's curly mess he called hair and smiled.
"My sunflower."
