A lot of tweets have been running around stating that Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Valery Zaluzhny (@CinC_AFU), posted a photo wearing a bracelet with a SWASTIKA symbol.

This thread addresses that issue, with photos and comments.

A thread 🧵👇

A photo on a tweet on the newly created twitter account of Valery Zaluzhny, shows what appears to be a bracelet with a swastika:

Although the photo is not hi-res when zoomed, you should see something like this: a swastika

However, as image experts would know & tell you, it may not be what it looks like…

And no, I don’t mean symbolically. I mean that it may not be a SWASTIKA at all!

Let me explain👇

See this bracelet, below.

What you see appears to be a Scandinavian bracelet from the Ukrainian web-site Pakabone:
pakabone.com

These bracelets can be found in it, for example in this page:

pakabone.com/eng/braslety/?…

5/

The site says: “Viking, Slavic and Tribal jewelry | Made in Ukraine”

These bracelets can be created using a strap with various “charms” placed into it, charms like these:

pakabone.com/eng/braslety/b…

pakabone.com/eng/braslety/b…

(Remember these 2 charms for the tweets below)

When looking at the bracelet on the original photo in his acc (@CinC_AFU ), you can potentially recognise 2 charms from the bracelets on that website, both available to buy.

This is a photoshop to show what *might* be on his bracelet. We can’t know for sure just yet 👇

Not saying his bracelet doesn’t have a swastika. I don’t know! The resolution in the picture is poor, and yes, it certainly looks like one, no doubts.

But … until we see a hi-res photo of his bracelet, we can’t know for sure.

See a (bad resolution) comparison here:

One more thing: if you have a bit of time, read this article regarding how images can look like something even completely different than what they are. Until we see them better, for example, up and close.

The article is from @LiveScience.

To finalise & again: can’t tell its not a swastika. But from the above, it could be something else.

No doubts some pro-Russian accs will try score on potentially wrong things, while truth seekers will sensibly wait for proof before taking definitive actions.

You should too.

PS: this post was made with help from comments and photos on Reddit.

/Addendum

After I finished this post I noticed @AnonOpsSE also add a tweet on this: here’s an excellent comparison of that charm with hi- and low-res
