118.01/ Week one-hundred and eighteen, October 15-21, 2022, thread begins here.
Week 117 below.
118.02/ Lotsa upsets in the #MLBPostseason & sore losers calling to change the new playoff format. Look, this is the key to win a championship in US sports: be good enough to get into the playoffs & then be as healthy as possible and "hot" when in them. That's the secret.
118.03/ Had old friends visit last night, both PhDs, and it was lovely but posed one the downsides of academic households: when I checked on the younger kids - 13, 13, 11 & 9 - they, no joke, asked me to moderate their discussion of the trolley problem. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolley_p…
118.04/ What stunts like this to for me - someone who could be sympathetic to their cause - is put them in the PETA category of "dangerously unreasonable fanatics who probably hate me & are OK with violence." That may be their goal, but I doubt it.

118.05/ Thank God my family and I were able to get our #BiValentBooster vaccine shot today! Thank God we live in a place with access and that these miracle drugs exist. Got the flu shot too, so now I have a good excuse to not shlep a heavy Sefer Torah around for hours (heh)
118.06/ "Surely there will be no downside to eating another piece of babka, right?": A Yuntif Story
118.07/ @damato_26's post describes the trajectory of my thinking about whom I'll root for in the #MLBplayoffs. I'll add: San Diego hasn't won a championship in any major sport (1963 AFL don't count)

118.08/ I needed to reference this @Calvinn_Hobbes cartoon about the nonsensical "gendering" of language that, thank God, is nearly absent in English. I apply this satirical point to many areas in language and modern life.
(Posting both the full strip & the key panel separately)
118.09/ Just kvelling for a moment about the fun of sports in October. I have my #NYR at 7:00pm, the baseball playoffs at 7:37 and a football game at 8:15. Part of the fun is switching from channel to channel.
118.10/ I second this motion.
118.11/ Soon the schedule will stabilize, until then, I need to cut this thread short early. Stay safe everyone and #ShabbatShalom!
@threadreaderapp please unroll.
118.12/ I knew I forgot something! #NachasAlert: my son has an article in this week's parsha sheet for his High School (he's a shadow editor, too)

118.13/ This doubling of a thread request will probably crash the system but them's the breaks.
