He gave one specific instruction yet his men can't seem to get things right.
Must he do everything himself?
"I asked for a Wen and you brought me a Lan?"
"Sir," one of his men begins to explain. "Both parties were
present during the capture."
Wei Ying's forefingers press into his temples, rubbing them in circular motions. "Well then where is he? The Lan."
At the mention of this, the men scramble.
A heavy sigh falls from his lips as he turns to be seated.
Not a minute later and his
men return with the Lan whose... limbs are tethered from head to toe. His mouth gagged with what seems to be the signature Lan forehead ribbon.
He's tossed before Wei Ying's feet and squirms to look up.
Once their eyes meet, Wei Ying waves a hand in dismissal. "Leave us."
There's no need for further instruction. The room becomes completely empty, leaving only the two of them behind.
With slow steps, he nears the Lan.
"Looks like we have ourselves a situation here." He kneels before the man. "Judging from your appearance and forehead ribbon, it
seems I have one of the Jade Twins in my hands."
Wei Ying pulls a knife out from his inner coat and with firm hands, slashes the ropes. "Now which one do you happen to be?"
Once freed, the Lan glares at him. His jaw clenches as well does his fist but he answers.
"Lan Zhan."
Wei Ying cocks a brow, "The second one." his lips curl in amusement. "Surely the second young master can do more than just grimace at his savior? I heard you have a charming smile."
"Save me?" An incredulous and shameful affirmation. "Your men tied and gagged me." Lan Zhan
pointedly states, as if it wasn't obvious.
"Hmm yes. How unfortunate on their part. A mistake which cannot be overlooked. Would killing them appease the second young master?"
An unexpected answer yet inevitable outcome. It renders Lan Zhan silent.
"Seems a gag wasn't
need to keep you quite after all."
"You're Wei Wuxian. The rumored, underground crime boss with a notorious reputation. "
"And what am I known for?" he teasingly plays along.
Lan Zhan's brows furrow in anger, "Killing for fun."
Wei Ying lets out a loud and mocking cackle.
"Oh no, you've got it all wrong. I don't kill for fun, there's no satisfaction in that. Someone has to give me a reason to... someone like your business partner, Wen Xu. Now that is worth the fun."
He leans in closer with eyes as dark as a predator, "And you're going to
help me find him."
