Ashtavinayak means eight Vinayaka or Ganesha. All these eight Ganesh ji murties are Swayambhu (Self-manifested).
Each #Ashtavinayak mandir has its own individual legend and history, as is distinct from other Ashtavinayak mandir in terms of its murtis.

1.Shri Mayureshwar Mandir
Morgaon, #Maharashtra
Moreshwar portrays Ganesh ji riding peacock . Ganesh ji is believed to have killed the demon Sindhu at this very spot. The murti has its trunk turned to the left. Here he is accompanying by wives devi Riddhi and devi siddhi.
2.Shree Siddhivinayak Mandir
Siddhatek Maharashtra
It is 2nd of the Ashtavinayaka mandirs.
The unique thing about this murti is that this is the only one among the Ashtavinayaks murties in which the trunk turned to the right.
3. Shri Ballaleshwar mandir
Pali #Maharashtra
Ganesh ji is believed to have saved his bhakt Ballal who was beaten up by his father & villagers for his great devotion to him.
The murti is seated on a throne carved & has diamonds embedded in the eyes & his trunk pointing to left.
4. Shri Varadavinayak Mandir
Khopoli, Raigad #Maharashtra
Ganesha resides in this temple as the bestower of bounty and success. His idol was discovered in the adjoining lake.
His murti faces east and has his trunk pointing to the left.
5. Shri Chintamani Mandir
Theur, Pune Dist #Maharashtra
Ganesh ji is believed to have retrieved the precious gem, Chintamani, from the avaricious sage Kapila, at this very spot.
The murti faces East and has its trunk turned to the left.
6. Shri Girijatmaj Mandir
Lenyadri #Maharashtra
It is believed that Parvati ji performed penance at this very spot, in order to get Ganesh ji as her child. That is how its got this name Girijatmaj(Girija's son).
The murti faces north with its trunk positioned to the left.
7. Shri Vighneshwar Mandir
Ozar #Maharashtra
Ganesh ji manifested to save his bhakts & defeated Vighnasur. The demon begged for mercy & requested to him that his name should be taken everytime with him. So he got this name. The murti faces east & has its trunk turned the left.
8. Shri Mahaganapati Mandir Ranjangaon #Maharashtra
The murti faces east & is depicted as seated in a cross-legged position. He sits on a lotus, flanked by his consorts Riddhi and Siddhi, seated on either side of him. He has a broad forehead and his trunk is turned to the left.
