1) It is NOT - nor has it ever been - illegal to cross the English Channel, and refugees are neither "migrants" nor "invaders."
2) Under International law, anyone has the right to apply for asylum in any country that signed 1951 Convention - and to remain there until the authorities have assessed their claim.
3) Last year around 79.5 million refugees were forced to flee their homes, and the UK took 20,339 - just 0.026% of the world's refugees.
4) Refugees shouldn't need to become life-saving doctors or gold-medal athletes to be worthy of asylum. The fact that they are human beings should be enough.
5) Refugees aren't the reason you couldn't get a GP appointment this morning. That's due to 12 years of Tory austerity.
