🚨 BREAKING 🚨
There's a brand new @Census2021 release this morning with data covering England and Wales right down to a neighbourhood level. You can explore the data using our brand new #CensusMaps tool, but here's a 🧵 with a few highlights...

MEDIAN (AVERAGE) AGE
The oldest local authority in the country on Census day 2021 was North Norfolk (54 years) and the youngest was Tower Hamlets (30 years). At neighbourhood (MSOA) level, average ages ranged from 20 years to 66 years

MARRIAGE & CIVIL PARTNERSHIPS
There was a huge variation across England and Wales in the proportion people who were married (incl. civil partnerships). The highest % in Wokingham (55.0%) was almost double the lowest in Lambeth (25.6%)

PASSPORTS
The local authority area with the highest proportion of residents with a non-UK passport was the City of London (34.0%), while the area with the highest percentage of residents with no passport at all was East Lindsey (25.8%)

INTERNAL MIGRATION
The Census asked if people lived at a different address 12 months beforehand. We might have expected to see evidence of Covid-related migration in this data, but the patterns are dominated by in-migration to University cities

HOUSHOLD SIZE
Household size reveals interesting patterns within larger urban areas. City centres are dominated by one person households, whereas suburban areas have a much higher proportion of larger households
