Twitter fam, thank you for helping me to find the family of the 9 year old girl from NJ who had the police called on her by her neighbor for collecting lantern flies. I connected with them & invited them to @yale for a Black girl led Science Tour! Yesterday—HISTORY was MADE (1/)

First, we stopped at @thesashlab (not as fun BUT we had lots of Yale swag and goodies courtesy of @yalesph and @yalemeddei (2/)

Then we went over to Dr. Bei’s lab at @YaleEMD where PhD student, @ifedesamours showed us live mosquitoes! (3/)

We then went to Science Hill to Horsley’s lab where Dr. @Kris__95 gave us a private tour and showed us how she studies diabetes in mice… and surprisingly this was Bobbi’s favorite part of the tour!, she even named the mouse, Bob 🥰 (4/)

Then we ended the day at Yale Entomology…and they promised the family that if Bobbi collects more lanternflies, she can contribute them to Yale and they guarantee that Bobbi's name will always be attributed to the lantern flies she collects! (5/)

ANYONE USING THE LANTERN FLY SPECIMENS THAT SHE COLLECTS & CONTRIBUTES TO YALE ENTOMOLOGY WILL HAVE TO CREDIT HER! COME ON BLACK GIRL MAGIC! (6/)

Bobbi & her sister inherited a crew of Yale Aunties who will love on her and her family forever! Special thanks to @AileenIlianaPhD @lukieash18 @YaleBPA for quickly mobilizing to help make her visit to @yale so special! (7/)

I want to specifically thank Bobbi's mom @MoniqueAJoseph, her sister Hayden, and their dad for being so brave in standing up for justice for Bobbi. These past few weeks have not been easy for the family but their resilience and strength is truly inspiring
