Twitter fam, thank you for helping me to find the family of the 9 year old girl from NJ who had the police called on her by her neighbor for collecting lantern flies. I connected with them & invited them to @yale for a Black girl led Science Tour! Yesterday—HISTORY was MADE (1/) First, we stopped at @thesashlab (not as fun BUT we had lots of Yale swag and goodies courtesy of @yalesph and @yalemeddei (2/)

My older brother is autistic and needs assistance/supervision using public bathrooms. I took him to my cousins church one day and brought him into the womens bathroom.

A thread on why I am a supporter of gender neutral bathrooms (1) I figured women would be more understanding if I told them that my brother was autistic as we were walking into the bathroom. He was holding my hand, so I felt that he wouldn’t be seen as a threat (2)

A thread on stealing peoples ideas in academia.

In short, don’t do it.

But, I have some advice (1/24) I’ve been warned by people on the danger of sharing your aims or unfunded project ideas to others at conferences, talks, or meetings unless it’s published or funded. I used to think it was so strange that people were this scared, until it happened to me and others I know (2)

Let’s talk about tone policing Black girls and women. In short, don’t do it. But here is a thread on it. Yes, even I get tone-policed. But I recognize it immediately and put an end to it. Leaving the perpetrator with references to self-reflect on their actions towards me. I do this as a way to protect other Black females from going through this.

A close acquaintance of mine died from COVID on Sunday. What saddens me about her death is that she was offered the vaccine but refused because she wanted to see how others reacted. While I don’t blame her for being hesitant, a part of me wishes I could have talked to her about her hesitancy. Maybe she would still be here.
