When large meat corporations destroy our planet, injure workers, and abuse animals, it's taxpayers who pay the bill.
The corporations keep the profits.
It's outrageous.
But there's hope: @CoryBooker introduced the Industrial Agriculture Accountability Act!
A🧵on its importance:

Every year, thousands of workers are injured and mutilated in slaughterhouses.
And every year, meat corporations try to increase their slaughter speeds at the expense of workers and animals.
The IAA will change that.

Animals in factory farms and industrial slaughterhouses experience suffering at every step in the supply chain.
The IAA will eliminate some of the most horrific forms of slaughter and transportation.

In the face of climate change, meat corporations have done nothing to prepare for increased floods—forcing the burden on taxpayers.
The IAA will require that large meat corporations prepare for disasters or pay for their failure to act.

The Industrial Agriculture Accountability Act has the support of over 60 organizations—including groups fighting on behalf of workers, animals, rural communities, and the environment.
This cross-movement support is precisely the way to fix our broken food system.

@voxdotcom wrote an excellent article on the Industrial Agriculture Accountability Act.
It's a must-read:

@KennyTorrella and @MBolotnikova do a phenomenal job explaining how the bill aims to address many of the horrors in our current food system.
