The easy answer to when we know that the conservative movement has been cured of its magadisease is, that we can imagine John McCain fully supporting that party
A cured GOP will not fight war against women (abortion, codify Roe vs Wade) ie no longer hostage to religious nutters
A cured conservative party will kick out the Nazis, condemn all white supremacists and LEAD the fight to race equality. Try to become the party of choice for all minorities (so yes, 180 degree turn from today)
That means yes, banning red magahats & the confederate flag
The Republican party has become the party of stupid (in words of former GOP Governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal)
They CANNOT get the youth vote back, until they start to respect SCIENCE - most of all - climate science. They HAVE to kick out science-deniers & the Anti-Fauci squad
The demographic shifts against the OLD GOP were brutal. Mitt Romney election loss autopsy of 2012 told us this. Told the WORLD that the GOP knew it
They had to get women, minorities & youth to accept GOP as a viable option
Trump turned GOP into white uneducated man's pity party
There is NO OTHER WAY
This GOP is dead. It cannot win national elections. It will do ever worse in local elections until it is no more
I don't CARE how long it takes for conservatives to figure this out. I don't

But we MUST BE RATIONAL. They WILL change
GOP has not yet had its 'Mondale Moment' (Mondale lost with 40% against Reagan in 1984: only won his home state)
When they do, they will change
After Mondale, DEMs rejected socialist agenda (like that of Bernie Sanders) & embraced middle political ground of Bill Clinton - & won

One more test. Only when EVERY nominee for President takes pledge they will not pardon Trump - is this party on the mend. If even one of their candidates refuses that pledge: GOP is still sick with magamadness
Easy test. I don't mind their sickness lingering
