Senior officers of the Brazilian Army just released a letter. Main point:

"We emphasize that the members of the Land Force, cohesive, motivated and knowledgeable of their history, will always be ready to fulfill their constitutional missions."

"We are attentive to everything that is happening and that has been causing legal uncertainty and political and social instability in the country. Furthermore, we are concerned about the lack of impartiality in the narrative of facts and in the dissemination of data…”

"Cowardice, injustice and weakness are the most abhorred attributes for a Soldier. Our nation, which gives the highest levels of trust to the Armed Forces, knows that its soldiers will not abandon it."

The pressure in the Brazilian military is coming from the bottom up. It is not the generals that are pushing for intervention, it is the rank and file. One senior officer acting out could spark a chain reaction across the entirety of the armed forces.

This is why the TSE is pressing so hard for censorship. An officers rebellion would be much easier to coordinate in the era of groupchats.

All eyes on the World Cup. The code signal that has been given is Neymar scoring a game-winning goal in the final.
