Ensuring all people have access to clean water is the foundation of our work at @EPA.

I was in McDowell County, West Virginia this week — a community with just 19,000 residents — that has felt the impacts of inadequate and failing water systems for decades. #JourneytoJustice

Many residents rely on straight pipes that discharge raw sewage directly into their yards or into local bodies of water. And too many lack reliable access to clean, safe drinking water.

Even with these challenges, community members in McDowell have remained resilient and resourceful and have come up with innovative ways to make up for a lack of resources.

But here’s the reality: no one in the United States should have to live with the challenges of raw sewage in their yard. No American should have to worry about the safety of the water they drink.

Thanks to @POTUS @SenCapito @Sen_JoeManchin, EPA is making historic investments in our water infrastructure through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law — with $83 million awarded for West Virginia, just this year alone.

We’re going to build a future where our water infrastructure is resilient.

Where all children across this country can play outdoors in their own communities, without fear of hazard or harm.

Where wastewater everywhere is safely collected, treated, and reused.
