It’s a political marriage, now that JL is secure in his place as Sect Leader Jin, JC tries to let go of his obsessions with WWX. He heard from NHS in confidence about the failure of resurrecting WWX.
WWX was never coming back.
His new wife met all of his criteria, and a mutual understanding was in place prior to the marriage.
They are not in love. Not that there was a lack of attempting, but they are friends, close enough to be spouses for the rest of their lives.
Eventually they have a child.
Except the child is…strange. Like there’s an older soul inside. Intelligent eyes roaming and always clingy and sticky to JC. JC is unable to put him down for even a second and is usually seen carrying his son in all meetings/night hunts etc.
When the baby says his first word, it’s “Shidi”. And JC is shocked.

Baby is WWX’s reincarnation. He so desperately wanted to fulfill his promise to be by Jiang Cheng’s side forever, in the afterlife, he clung onto this promise and wish so strongly the gods were unable to
erase his memories of his previous life. He manages to be reborn as Jiang Cheng’s son but he always had other thoughts towards JC. He wanted to be by his side, as his companion, his right-hand man, and in his dreams, his cultivation partner.
WWX died once with all these dreams unfulfilled. He doesn’t want to live and die in regret anymore. When he’s finally able to speak in full sentences, he tells Jiang Cheng everything.
Jiang Cheng also had feelings for WWX. Always kept hidden.
As WWX grows older, he gets bolder, trying to capture JC.
There is a lot of internal debates about this between the two of them, because 1) wife and mother.
She’s a nice lady, and she loves them wholeheartedly
Though she never understands why her son only clings onto JC. WWX suffers from the betrayal towards his new mother whom he has affections for, but also his past-life’s love for JC.
Rocky tensions, drama, but eventual HE chengxian. The wife/mother is NOT an antagonist.
(Sorry just dived into plot points and not a proper thread, this had been in my docs for a fairly long time, hopefully it’ll make it as a proper fic one day…*looks at the pile of other ideas*) aha…😅😅😅😅
Bonus: WWX grows to have similarities to his OG body but also some similarities to JC and wife (because their flesh and blood).
JC will see the WWX resemblances but outsiders will only see him as JC and wife’s son 😏😏
