#OFMDJanuAUry - Day 5 - Soul Mates
1/8
Olu knew it first.
When Jim walked through that door the first time he felt something…shift. It wasn’t a pain, not a shortness of breath, it was like a string tightening. Just there, right between his ribs.
2/8
He didn’t know what it meant, not immediately, but he figured it out. Every time he saw Jim, it was like it got tighter, but in a good way. A hug you didn’t want to be let go from.
And as he fell in love with them, the feeling cemented what he knew.
3/8
Jim and he were meant to be. He just had to be patient and wait for Jim to figure it out, too.

Jim dragged their feet.
They felt that same pull from day one, but they fought it. It was the strongest feeling they’d had in ages. Stronger than their need for vengeance even, and that just wouldn’t do. So Jim tried to stay away and on track, planning their next steps.
5/8
But the longer they went without seeing Olu, the worse the feeling got. It nagged at them, a constant reminder to <look> at Olu, <listen> to Olu, <be> with Olu, and the thought of moving on without him felt impossible.
6/8
And Olu was so kind and caring and funny and loyal to them, for no goddamn reason. They weren’t reciprocating anything but a snarky comment every now and then, but Olu would just smile at them and kept on being…lovely. So of course, they fell for him.
7/8
And that changed things. They understood the feeling now, and it wasn’t a restriction, it was a binding. It was supporting them, not anchoring them. It shored up their heart, filled them with hope and happiness, and everything they thought would never be allowed for them.
8/8
It still felt strange to call it fate, so Jim thought of it as a gift. It was an offering from the universe that they could have rejected if they wanted to.
Jim is glad that they accepted…eventually.
