In January 2021, Young Americans for Liberty president Cliff Maloney was fired following a flood of accusations—using Twitter hashtag #YALtoo—of rape, sexual assault, harassment, and a toxic, misogynist culture at YAL. #NHPolitics 2/9

Among the reports was an accusation that NH congressional candidate and former state Rep. Tim Baxter (R-Seabrook) groped a fellow YAL state chair. "[H]is groping me started my dive into YAL's sham HR and spiraled into #YALtoo." #NHPolitics 3/9

After leaving YAL, Maloney founded Citizens Alliance of America and launched an initiative called the Liberty State Project with the goal of electing 250 libertarian candidates to state legislatures. He identified NH, Idaho, and Pennsylvania as his focus for 2022. #NHPolitics 4/9

In a Liberty Uninterrupted podcast, Maloney explained that he selected Idaho and NH because of their existing "culture of liberty," low cost per race, the potential for statewide wins, and current libertarian leadership. #NHPolitics 5/9

Then, in April 2022, Maloney was arrested for allegedly drugging and raping a college classmate in 2013. He has denied the allegations and is awaiting trial. #NHPolitics 6/9 thedailybeast.com/young-american…

Meanwhile, Citizens Alliance of NH registered as a NH nonprofit corporation and campaign committee in August and launched a cookie-cutter website that is virtually identical to the Idaho group's site. Tim Baxter joined the board after his September primary loss. #NHPolitics 7/9

Citizens Alliance of NH reported spending $212k on independent expenditures supporting 90+ candidates for the NH House and Senate. $129k of that went to Mobilize the Message, a political consulting firm owned by — wait for it — Cliff Maloney. #NHPolitics 8/9

To gain the group's endorsement, candidates signed the 10-point Citizens Alliance pledge promising support for broad libertarian policy initiatives. More than 60 of the endorsed candidates won their races and now hold seats in the NH legislature. #NHPolitics 9/9
