Question 1: Can he handle the kJs that will be burned during #MilanoSanremo?

In the Volta Limburg Classic 2022 he blasted out 1374W for 8 seconds in the sprint, after burning 5282 kJs. This is comparable with the amount that riders burn in MSR.

Question 2: Can he survive the combination Cipressa-Poggio in #MilanoSanremo?

To be able to get over the Cipressa, you need to push around 5.7W/kg for 10'. In GP Marseille, πŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺArnaud De Lie managed 6.3W/kg for 10'.

On Mont Bouquet (#EDB2023) he managed 5.5W/kg for 15'36". This is even a longer effort than the Cipressa.

Those efforts weren't in a race with the same length as #MilanoSanremo, but it's a good indication.

The Poggio requires a higher power output (6.5W/kg) for less than 6 minutes. The numbers on his pre-season test showed he's able to produce 7.14W/kg for 5 minutes.

This numbers were produced with fresh legs, so fatigue will be a factor.

Conclusion: It's clear that the Poggio will be the hardes task for πŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺ Arnaud De Lie if he wants to win #MilanoSanremo.

Important note: This thread focuses on the data, not on positioning which is an important factor @Milano_Sanremo.
