Who is ABRAXAS: The Terrible ONE? (🧵)

"There is a G-d about whom you know nothing, because men have forgotten him. We call him by his name: ABRAXAS. He is less definite than G-d or Devil... Abraxas is activity; nothing can resist him but the unreal."

"Abraxas stands above the Sun (G-d) and above the Devil. That which is spoken by God-the-Sun is LIFE; that which is spoken by the Devil is DEATH; Abraxas speakth that hallowed and accursed word, which is Life and Death at the SAME time. Wherefore, Abraxas is the Terrible One."

"Abraxas begetteth Truth & Lying, Good & Evil, Life & Death, Light & Dark in the Same word and same act. Wherefore Abraxas is the Terrible One."

Abraxas is 'Life & Death' because he is 'the life vegetation in the course of one year, spring, autumn, summer & winter, the yay & nay of Nature. He is a Solar Symbol but ultimately he is a 'Dark Sun' like the Sol Niger of Alchemy: the animating power in the world of nature.

Jung explained, "(Abraxas) was a Time god. Identical with the Demiurgos, the World Creator. And as Such he is surely identical with the Purusha or the Kabbalists Adam Kadmon."

Hermann Hesse agreed, "Abraxas was the god who was BOTH god & devil."

"As a Pantheus, 'All-God', he appears on the amulets with the head of a cock or of a lion, the body of a man, & his legs are serpents which terminate in scorpions, types of the Agathodaimon. In his right hand he grasps a club, or a flail & in his left is a round or oval shield."

Abraxas in Greek is Ἀβραξας.

Α = 1, β = 2, ρ = 100, α = 1, ξ =60, α = 1, ς = 200

The sum being 365, the number of days in the year, which is symbolic of the 365 Æons and symbolized the identity of Creative Energy with Time, gathered together in one composite personality.

Abraxas is symbolic of PHIve creatures, and as the circle of the year actually consists of 360 degrees, each of the emanating deities is one-fifth of this power, or 72 (360/5), one of the most sacred numbers in the Old Testament of the Jews and in their Qabbalistic system.

A variant spelling of Mithras is 'Meithras' which adds up to 365 like Abraxas. Crowley claimed the name 'Baphomet', truly meant 'Father Mithras'. Some have even suspected Abraxas was the same as the Persian Mithras.

Abraxas & Baphomet are Different Aspects of the Same Concept.

The Seven Letters of Abraxas, represented each of the Seven Classical Planets, the Kosmocrators or Planetary Archons.

The Seven Letters of Abraxas represented the Seven Main Chakras, Days in the Week, Seven Tones in a Music Scale, the Seven Greek Vowels and Colors in a Rainbow.

Abraxas is a Personification of the Great Magical Agent, the Astral Light, what the Gnostic call the Pleroma. Like Baphomet, He is a Symbol of the Synthesis of ALL Opposites.

To view Abraxas as simply a 'God' is to miss the point, Abraxas is a Philosophical Concept or Formula.

"From the Custom of the Ancient Semitic people to employ letters as numerals, it was possible, in the shape of a Word, a mathematical formula, which could be shewn as the 'least common factor' of a Mathematical Universe &, its SEED or NUCLEUS. This formula is the Tetragrammaton."

Abraxas is known as IAO to the Gnotic, prounced Jove or JAHVE (Yahweh). IAO is the Greek Form of the Tetragrammaton. Abraxas is the Personification of the Ineffable Name, the Tetragrammaton or IAO to the Greeks, the Mystical Name or Formula.

Abraxas is the Jewish Demiurgos JHVH.

Diodorus Siculus says, "Amongst the Jews Moses pretended that the god surnamed Iao gave him his laws."

Theodoret stated that the four letter Name Yod, He, Vau, He, was pronounced by the Samaritans as ΙΑΒΕ (Jave); by the Jews as ΙΑΩ (Iota Alpha Omega), prounced ΙΑΗΟ (Iaho).

The first idea of an "Ineffable Name," and all its inherent virtues, came from the Hindoo Doctrine respecting the title AUM,--itself, like the ΑΙΩ, trilateral--representing the Triad, Brahma-Vishnu-Siva: A standing for the Creator, U for the Preserver, M for the Destroyer.

Brahmins taught that each letter of A-U-M unlocked a great mystery, and the Gnostic taught the same of Ι-Α-Ω. "Ι signifies All goeth out; Α, All returneth within; Ω, There shall be an end of ends", expressing the doctrine of Emanation, Return & Annihilation of the Universe.

"The Chaldeans call the G-d (Dionysus or Bacchus) IAO in the Phoenician tongue (instead of the intelligible light), and he is often call Sabaoth, signifying that he is above the Seven Poles, that he is Demiurgos."

"For the Kabbalists, the Letters of the Hebrew Aleph-Bet are the Royal Road to the Sacred Source within Us, they make it possible to ascend to Transcendance. The Tetragrammaton (IAO) is at it's Core."

Abraxas or IAO is the Student & the Teacher, the Radiance & the Shadow in Man.

IAO is a Cypher for "I Am whO I Am".

Other Abraxas Gems have been found inscribed with ΕΙC ΖΕϒC CΑΡΑΠΙ or "Abraxas is the ONE Jehovah". Abraxas was seen as the Egyptian Horus. Not surprisingly, Egyptians expressed the name of the Supreme Being by the Eeven Greek vowels ΙΕΗΩΟϒΑ.

E.A. Wallis Budge seen Abraxas as "a form of the Adam Kadmon of the Kabbalists (or the Purusha to the Hindus) and the Primal Man whom G-d made in His own image".

Other Gnostic Sects called Abraxas, Aberamentho, and went as far as to equate him with Jesus, as both Father and Son.

Hermann Hesse explained, "He is G-d & Satan and he contains both the lumiNOUS & the Dark World".

Abraxas is more than simply a Gnostic godform. Abraxas is the Tetragrammaton, or to the Greeks Iota Alpha Omega, personified. He is the Seed or Nucleus, the Gate & Gate Keeper.
