I started advertising on LinkedIn and Twitter that I was looking for a SWE role on June 14, 2022.

I continued posting every weekday (M-F) adding value to my network and looking for coffee chats. I hopped on the phone with EVERY recruiter that DMed me.

Starting in November, I reconnected with my close contacts and began asking for referrals. I took my time to craft and submit my 'premium applications' at a rate of about 1 per week. That means:
- Referred app
- Custom Resume & Cover Letter
- Relevant portfolio project

Prior to every interview, I asked as many questions as they let me and did a lot of digging to know as much as I could about the process. I gave myself 1 or 2 weeks to prepare for each interview, so that I could study up on their tech stack.

Offer in hand on Jan 19, 2023.

The main takeaway from my experience is that I never just 'hit the apply button.' Not even once. For every application that I submitted, I talked with a real human being beforehand. Whether that was a recruiter or a champion at the company.

Find someone to go to bat for you. Be intentional with how you navigate the job hunt. That is what worked for me.
