At the local mosque, Akef Akbar, an independent councillor acted as judge. He brushes off death threats against a 14-yr-old boy with SEN as “passions do flare” - despite that being an ACTUAL hate crime, worthy of prosecution. He applauds mum for not wanting to prosecute
Yet the local Iman isn't happy with that. "We will never tolerate disrespect of the holy Qur’an, never! We will sacrifice our lives for it… We don’t let this go!"
Shamefully, Inspector Andy Thornton of @WestYorksPolice nods along to this veiled threat
Inspector Thornton thanks the annoyed imam, pointing out the boy's actions are a "hate incident" & promises "longer learning, awareness & education in the school & wider community". At *no point* does he condemn the death threats, instead focusing on boy's "lack of understanding"
Thornton praises the imam's "tolerance". His words:
"Our children need to be protected... in these scary times.. from the rise of homosexuality & changing genders. It's barbaric"
Religious bigots chastising terrified mums? Death threats to autistic kids ignored by cops? Sharia?
Remember: almost TWO YEARS on, the Batley Grammar School teacher still lives in hiding, in fear of his & his family's life & unable to work. He was also utterly failed by @WestYorksPolice - who are surely unfit for purpose if they cannot protect non-Muslims from the mob
Every time we bow to the mob, we don’t placate them: we feed the crocodile. An urgent enquiry is needed into creeping de facto blasphemy laws in the UK. Mob rule is but a step away when citizens & esp children live in terror of ANY religious groups! #SayNoToSharia! ENDS
